Sunday Mail today.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Yes Pafitis, at least this is what I heard on the radio today.

AKEL have done the right thing here.

AKEL needs to make an example of this CNG soldier because he has endangered the lives of other CNG soldiers manning the Green Line and also the public.

This is not jut a "frowned upon moral boosting excercise". Not having his safety pin engaged is frowned upon. But sneaking across the Green Line is just stupid!

Will the soldier be Court Marshalled?

Yep, and then we're gonna shoot him.

A Court Marshal will suffice.

I can't believe you are downplaying the soldier's stupidity...

Don't you see the seriousness of this guy's actions? He should not ever go anywhere near the Green Line again. He is a liability.

DO me a favour. Call someone you know in Cyprus and ask them what happened on the green line while they were serving. Maybe they'll be willing to provide you with more details than I am.

DT, most of us know what has been going on the green line for years, everyone that served on the green line knows that. However, this does not make it right or even brave, it is simply stupid and immature. This "challenge game" needs to stop and the only way to stop is to punish the ones that engage in such stupid war games..

I understand that you can't freely speak about this.

I have heard that many things accur on the Green Line, and I can assure you if it ever happened within the ADF there would be shakedown like no other.

I think we all understand that Skylarking occurs all over the world in just about every countries military. What I don't understand is how you don't seem to understand the seriousness of this guy's actions.

I sincerely hope DT, that deep down you DO understand how serious this matter is and that your cover up is to protect the CNG's image. Otherwise you should be Court Marshalled as well...

Even if you accept the Greek Cypriot mantra that the Cyprus problem is a simple question of right and wrong, of invasion and occupation – which Washington does not – the fact remains that Turkey has a population roughly a hundred times the Greek Cypriot population, and has the second largest standing army in NATO (its million soldiers outnumbering the whole of Cyprus). Its strategic location places it astride the two great strategic challenges of the Middle East and the former Soviet Union. It is Muslim yet secular. By the standards of the region it is a beacon of democracy. And it has access and influence with all the powers of the region.

Therefore, basis above statement , what is the purpose of negotiations?
Why G/cs spending money and time to keep NG alive and continuying negotiations? Why they do not sign immdly without any further delay the union of whole Cyprus with Turkey?

Note: I think the ratio of Israel population with Arabs is worst than Cyprus with Turkey.

The military power of a country like Turkey does not give to it the guarantee that a war will be always to its favor.

I am almoast sure that in a theoritical war between Israel and Turkey , the second will not be able to defend for more than two months.

Of course Greece and Cyprus are not Israel but they can easily be.They just need a different leadership
