Half the story of a mere decade

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Half the story of a mere decade

Postby Piratis » Sat Apr 11, 2009 8:52 pm

Why is it that most Turkish Cypriots remember only half the story of a mere decade?

Mere Decade

The only part of history that TCs seem to remember is 1963-1974. As if there was nothing before and nothing after.

They conveniently forget the whole history of Cyprus except from that tiny period.

What they forget:

1571-1878: Turks attack Cyprus, destroy many of our cities, kill 10s of thousands of Cypriots and oppress and exploit Cypriots for more than 3 centuries.

1958: Just 80 years after their rule was over they attack again, killing innocent Greek Cypriots and starting the inter-communal conflict.

1974-2009: The Turks invade again, killing 1000s of Cypriots, ethnically cleansing 100s of thousands and illegally occupy Cyprus for 35 years, against international law and UN resolutions.

Half the Story

But their selective history doesn't stop in just selecting a mere decade. Even during that one decade, they only remember half the story. They don't remember TMT and the crimes against the Greek Cypriots, they don't remember how they even forced the Armenian Cypriots out of their homes, they don't remember the napalm bombs they threw against us burning alive so many people.

With such selective and distorted history the Turks can convince only themselves and maybe some uneducated friends of theirs that want to be convinced.

I sometimes wonder if the Turks believe their own propaganda. If they do, then how do they explain that the big and powerful Turkey, with USA and UK as best allies, with a big market, with pipelines etc, and still they don't manage to gain recognition for the pseudo state?

Don't they realize that while Turkey might have all of the above, Cyprus has justice on its side, because the truth is not just half the story of a tiny selective part of history, but instead the whole story of the whole history, which shows beyond any doubt that is the Cypriot people that have justice on their side.

Contorted view of things peddled on a regular basis I think people understand not to take you to seriously.

Isn't it true that you are trying to lay the blame on Greek Cypriots and excuse the illegal occupation, the illegal declaration of the "trnc", the criminal ethnic cleansing of 100s of thousands of people, the refusal to obey UN resolutions, the bringing in Cyprus of 10s of thousands of illegal Turkish Settlers, the illegal sale of Greek Cypriot properties, and many other crimes and illegalities you commit against Cyprus, by trying to use as an excuse half the story of a mere decade, while at the same time discarding all the historical facts that point to your countless crimes against us which started from the day you set your foot on our island and continue, almost non-stop, until today?

The Turks don't want to see the whole truth. You tell them about the whole truth and then they say "I don't care about what happened then. I don't care about that. I don't care about this. All I care is about 63-74" And like Piratis said even 63-74 they only see half the story and not the other half!!
