WALK AGAINST CANCER

A `Walk against Cancer` has taken place as part of a week long events organized by the Help Those with Cancer Association.
The march started at the Gonyeli Roundabout from where participants walked to the Ataturk Sport Hall.

President Mehmet Ali Talat also joined the walk against cancer.
Chanting slogans and songs calling for a joint struggle against cancer, a large group of people walked from the Gonyeli Roundabout to the Ataturk Sport Hall.

In an address during the march, the chairperson of the Help Those with Cancer Society Raziye Kocaismail underlined the need for the adoption of state policies in the fight against cancer.

For his part, President Talat said that unity is needed for the struggle against the disease to be carried out as part of state policy.
Pointing out that the event was the proof of the big support given to the fight against cancer, the President expressed his readiness to fulfill the responsibilities falls on him.


Meanwhile, the cancer screening campaign launched by the Health Ministry is continuing.
Free Pap Smears are being provided for women and PSA for men at state hospitals and health centres as part of the campaign.

We must all offer whatever we can to help those afflicted with this dilapidating decease.
I have not visited the Cancer centre during my last few visits due mainly to having such little time spent in Cyprus.
Halil please give my regards and respect to this marvelous lady Raziye and tell her that Miltiades has not forgotten them , and that efforts are still continuing in raising funds. Hope to see her at the Centre soon.
