Miltiades,

I have been to Cyprus a total of 6 times.

Fancy that now!

One short of my last years visits !!
Can ask what integration , contact etc you have with Cypriots excluding family ?
Because of my business I do come to contact with many Cypriots , a lot of G/Cs do come to see me for a chat weekly , many T/Cs also do so. I think I know a little more about our people than perhaps you do bearing in mind that you are heavily influenced by Greece which naturally I'm not .

Is that while you are trying to sell pots and pans?

No mate is because I have reasons to want peace and stability in Cyprus , here is one reason a true Cypriot just one year old !! My grandson .

This whole thing started because you are under the impression that Cypriots do not embrace their Cypriot culture.

If this is such a non issue, then why do you keep coming back to it? Let it go, then. In the words of Shakespeare, "Methinks Thou Dost Protest Too Loudly".

Paphitis wrote: I ask you to quantify this and you can't, hence we are wasting our time.

If by not embracing our Cypriot culture you mean that Cypriots are also embracing their Hellenic roots, then you are going to be hitting a brick wall I'm afraid.

Christ. We're chasing our tails again. Don't read between the lines. Just read what I said.

Paphitis wrote: Because in essence this is what this is all about, but you just are not man enough to admit it and come clean with your agenda.

Another conspiracy theorist. In Athens they call hashishin 'Papho'. I think I know why, now.

Paphitis wrote: Better consult your book of Cypriot philosophy Chip!

You want to know why Cypriots of Muslim faith don't want to embrace their Cypriot Culture Chip? Because they stole more than 2 times their fair share Chip, and now live of the proceeds of stolen GC property and land Chip. Their whole society has been corrupted Chip by money and greed Chip. So how are YOU going to get them to embrace our Cypriot culture Chip?

I'm aware of what's going on in the north. One day I may raise an army of aggressive Cypriot Aussies who can go over there and eat them for breakfast.

Paphitis wrote: By denouncing our Hellenic inheritance Chip. Is that your answer? I should hope not Chip, because it is hard enough taking you seriously as it is Chip.

Is this how they eat people for breakfast in Oz, Papho. Chips with everything?

Paphitis wrote:So overall, this is not much of a debate at all, until you finally come clean and answer the following question:

And what evidence can you present to us that there are some Cypriots on this forum who do not embrace their unique Cypriot characteristics?

If they embrace their Hellenism does this mean they do not embrace their Cypriot culture? Is that all you got Chip?

FFS, you don't need to consult your book of Philosophy to answer that one. It can't be that hard Chip.

Unless you naively started this thread as another opportunity to slag on Cypriot Hellenic roots, then you should have planned and executed this thread much better than what you have, because as it stands right now, you have come on CF making sweeping statements such as:

Some restaurants in London describe this as a Greek cheese. I think this is evidence of Cypriots not entirely happy to embrace the various and enriching elements of Cypriot heritage. Would you agree?

Bloody Halloumi Cheese!

Well Chip, you are going to have to do much better than that.

So let's have it chip.

I asked you to provide credible evidence of Cypriots not embracing their Cypriot culture.

So far you have provided nothing to embellish the debate in this thread of yours.

Maybe you can not answer my simple question because deep down this thread is not about proving your sweeping statement that Cypriots are not embracing their Cypriot Heritage because that is not your agenda.

Perhaps your agenda is to slag and spit on Hellenism and Greece. Well I'm sorry Chip, because as long as Paphiti is around you will not get away with your games and I will always be around to hold you to account for your stupidity.

Dear oh dear. Is it the genetically modified variety your on? The THC in that is 10 times the natural dosage, you know.

Paphitis wrote: Some debate this is Chip.

This isn't debste. This is a mindless stream of consciousness on your part. With unnecessary insults thrown in for good measure. Attacking the person not the point of view is a guaranteed way to score a '0' in any debating competition.

Paphitis wrote: So far, I'm the only one that has remained on topic, and when I ask you some questions about the very essence of the point you are trying to make, you offer nothing but Halloumi Cheese...

So what are you waiting for Chip?

Give us an example of Cypriots not being happy to embrace their Cypriotness.

H Pareta mas me tis filosofies sou kai biyene kai psise patates yia tous pelates sou manga! Mou milas kai yia ton Zenona akoma...

Ah, now I get it. You think I run a fish and chip shop because I'm a UK Cypriot. I gotcha! That's why you've christened me Chip. Great stuff.

I think he has ran out of ideas. I blame the time zones.

I am desperately trying to find common ground, with him; with you, YFred, with all Cypriots.

And that was the point of this thread. Now will you join us for a Keo?

MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN "THE CYPRIOT" and PAPHITIS.

If you want to find common ground with me, all you need to do is the following:

1. Don't try to open intellectual threads and then revert to Halloumi Cheese,
2. don't insult my intelligence,
3. don't slag off on Greece,
4. don't try and tell me that I'm doing the wrong thing by being a Greek Cypriot,
5. don't support Homonia,
6. don't try and revise or suppress Hellenic History in Cyprus or in Greece,
7. answer my questions without the smart arse comments,
8. and for gods sake, don't shove a KEO beer in front of me.

Now sign the below Memorandum of Understanding:

I, "The Cypriot", do solemnly swear that I will abide by the above guidelines and understand that any contravention of the above rules of engagement with Paphiti, will be dealt with harshly and punishment will be administered until a public apology is made begging Paphiti for his forgiveness and understanding for my indiscretion.

It will be my pleasure to meet any decent Cypriots anytime any place.

That's great, YFred. I'm genuinely moved.

After you sign the above contract or Memorandum of Understanding, then we can go and have a beer together but I refer you to clause 8 - "for God's sake don't ever shove a KEO beer in front of me".....

Certainly not. I never bought a pot or a pan from Milti during my regular coffee stops.

My wife has found good use for the kingsize frying pan he gifted us though. I need to behave myself, lest she uses it on my head:lol:
