The living Cypriot culture

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

You know what, Paphiti? I know you don't like some of the ideas I come up with, but I don't really believe you think "I'm just full of it".

Paphitis wrote: People don't take too knidly to time wasters and pointless threads with an agenda chip.

Bareda me, with the "people". It's just me and you talking now. And your cheerleader Lit, hasn't got an original thought in his brain.

Paphitis wrote: If you still want to "debate", then you can start by answering my questions Chip. Otherwise your thread is pointless Chip because you are not here to address your own perception of Cypriots not embracing their Cypriot culture but you are looking for a free for all slag fest against Hellenism and Greece.

Just calm down Paphiti mate. You'll have a heart attack. I'm not looking for a free for all slag fest against Greece. I like Greece.

Paphitis wrote: And what the hell is that going to achieve for our Cypriot Culture Chip?

Do you think it is that easy to stop being Greek after 4,000 years? And do you honestly think that the Muslim Cypriots are going to embrace Cypriotism as a result of this?

My Cypriot balls are made of steel not crystal. But I'd rather explore all peaceful means to unite the island first.

How old are you Chip?

Not sure I want to answer that question. In what way is my age relevant?

Chip is an Aussie derivative of "The Cypriot" or "The big Chipreo"...

Gotcha! So we're both Chips off the old block, yes?

If this is such a non issue, then why do you keep coming back to it? Let it go, then. In the words of Shakespeare, "Methinks Thou Dost Protest Too Loudly".

Because I'm trying to get to the bottom of your thread and all you seem to talk about is Halloumi...

Christ. We're chasing our tails again. Don't read between the lines. Just read what I said.

We are chasing our tails because you avoid answering any questions about the issue of this thread you created and the sweeping statements you made...

Another conspiracy theorist. In Athens they call hashishin 'Papho'. I think I know why, now.

Ate Pareta mas...

I'm aware of what's going on in the north. One day I may raise an army of aggressive Cypriot Aussies who can go over there and eat them for breakfast.

So far the only thing you propagate is our capitulation...because lets get one thing straight here...If the Turkish Army manage to rape us psychologically and cause us to abandon our identity, then the war is lost...There is nothing else that is salvageable and you might as well let them have all of Cyprus because Cyprus would have lost its meaning.

Is this how they eat people for breakfast in Oz, Papho. Chips with everything?

Well it use to be Bacon and Eggs, but my wife won't let me anymore... :(

Dear oh dear. Is it the genetically modified variety your on? The THC in that is 10 times the natural dosage, you know.

I don't do Drugs mate, so I wouldn't know about THC. CASA would give me absolute grief if I tested positive.

This isn't debate. This is a mindless stream of consciousness on your part. With unnecessary insults thrown in for good measure. Attacking the person not the point of view is a guaranteed way to score a '0' in any debating competition.

Then anser my question and we will avoid the unpleasantness...

If you go back on this thread, it was you that was behaving in a very patronising manner even when I was nice to you...

Why was that? Because you have an agenda and I'm trying to get you to reveal it.

Ah, now I get it. You think I run a fish and chip shop because I'm a UK Cypriot. I gotcha! That's why you've christened me Chip. Great stuff.

Well, I don't think you run a Fish and chips shop...but if you are going to ridicule me or anyone else on this forum then you are going to cop it.

Just ask GR and Milti. They have been copping it for a long time now, and have become second rate debaters. You don't want to become like them do you...

So Chip - short for Chipreo:

Answer the bloomin question which addresses the topic of your very own thread and then we can get down to proper debate:

And what evidence can you present to us that there are some Cypriots on this forum who do not embrace their unique Cypriot characteristics?

Why do you avoid the question? This is the subject matter of your thread after all!

Yes I do...Until you address the question with a sensible answer.

Bareda me, with the "people". It's just me and you talking now. And your cheerleader Lit, hasn't got an original thought in his brain.

No, you are not just talking with me. You are also talking with the overwhelming majority of all GCs.

Just calm down Paphiti mate. You'll have a heart attack. I'm not looking for a free for all slag fest against Greece. I like Greece.

I am calm. Believe me, you have not seen me get angry.

My Cypriot balls aren't made of steel not crystal. But I'd rather explore all peaceful means to unite the island first.

Well my balls are made of flesh as well.

I too want a peaceful solution, and why do you insinuate that our Hellenism will only lead to war.

Suppressing it might lead to something down the track similar to 63, because you just can't suppress the people's will, because sooner or later the people will revolt.

And let's face it, a free Cyprus at the expense of selling our souls is meaningless....

Not sure I want to answer that question. In what way is my age relevant?

Because throughout this thread you have offered absolutely nothing but smart arse comments which are also patronising in order to avoid some serious questions asked.

Gotcha! So we're both Chips off the old block, yes?

No!

OK... Let's forget all the others, let's just focus on you and what you said. And I don't want an argument, Paphiti, please.

Right at the start you said "Cypriots were Hellenes", even though some really famous Cypriot personages, personages that I mentioned in the very first post, clearly weren't.

Abostolos Varnavas was one, Zeno of Citium was another. And I pointed that out to you and then you back-tracked and said, no of course they're not, "naturally they're Cypriot".

So this is an example. And I know you didn't do it deliberately. And I know you corrected yourself afterwards. OK? So let's just let it go.

I accept you are a proud Cypriot and that you accept all characteristics of our island's unique and rich culture.

Miltiades,

I have been to Cyprus a total of 6 times.

Fancy that now!

Miltiades,

I have been to Cyprus a total of 6 times. Not only that Miltiades, but I have been to Turkey and have entered TAF establishments such as Incirlik, and Murted.

Fancy that now!

That wasn't what I was insinuating. Sorry. There was a typo when I first uploaded it. Please read it again.

There's a misunderstanding based on the typo...

I've answered it now.

Sorry, are you not Cypriot, Paphiti? I'm even more confused now.

The Cypriot, you will find that Bafiti is an Australian but more Greek then the Greeks. It will not take long before he starts attacking you too, so long as you agree with him, you are fine, disagree and see.

Sorry, are you not Cypriot, Paphiti? I'm even more confused now.

In the eyes of the Cyprus Government, I am Cypriot and have been since 2006.

But I started feeling Cypriot when my father first took me to Cyprus in 1986. And feeling Cypriot is all that matters. You don't need a piece of paper or a Cypriometer to prove your Cypriotness, or do you? But I have been told many times that I'm not Cypriot by some CF "Super Cypriots". Maybe one day I may believe them.

I have also been to Greece a lot. And the Greeks always make me feel at home with their unique hospitality. I have friends in Greece that are dear to me as well.

I don't like people slagging Greece or Cyprus. I don't like people slagging Australia either, as I have endangered my very existence for that country.

I am very proud of all 3 countries. But sometimes Cyprus frustrates me and even I lose hope sometimes. :(

I give you an example of how much pride I feel for all 3 countries. When Greece hosted the Olympics I went to the opening ceremony. There was no way I was going to miss that extravaganza - the Olympics returning to their rightful home. All up it cost a fortune, but money was no object when seeing Greece host the Olympic games. I feel like I was a part of history.

I would do the same for Cyprus no doubt. If Cyprus becomes free, I am so there to see the Green Line dismantled.

I am due for a trip to Cyprus, so I hope to do this real soon depending on other commitments.
