Turkish Cyprus PM Soyer asked for the investigation of former president Denktas and PM Eroglu within Ergenekon probe.
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer requested an investigation to be done for the allegations against TRNC's first President Rauf Denktas and the former prime minister and the main opposition National Unity Party's Leader Dervis Eroglu in Ergenekon investigation's indictment, which mentions the two.

TRNC Prime Ministry Press and Public Relations Directorate made the written statement on the subject as the following:
"There is an investigation in Turkey known by 'Ergenekon.' As is known, the indictment was prepared against the suspects in this investigation as a result of Republic of Turkey's Criminal Procedure Act," the statement said.
"Some part in this indictment appeared in our press and a section of the indictment makes claims about our National Union Party chairman Mr. Dervis Eroglu and former President Rauf Denktas."
"Because of the seriousness of these claims and the public interest requires that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, in accordance with statutory legislation, should investigate this claims."
"In this context, Mr. Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer, made the request of an official investigation from the State Law Department today, in accordance with Cyprus law above-cited allegations," the statement added.
An alleged criminal network that came to be known as "Ergenekon" was revealed after police seized 27 grenades, TNT explosives and fuses in a shanty house in Istanbul on June 12, 2007 and Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into weapons. Police waged operations in several provinces and detained a number of people, including retired senior army officers, journalists and businessmen, for their alleged involvement in the network.
