The Extinct Choirokitian Culture.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Have you checked out the links to Encyclopedias mentioned in the previous posts in this thread, you silly box head?

1400 BC Mycenaeans reach the island as settlers. First use of The Cypriot syllabic scriptin (LCIB).
1300-1200 Several waves of Achaean Greeks come to settle on the island bringing with them the Greek language, their religion, their customs. BC Late Cypriot (LC) IIC, local prosperity, re-building of cities.

It would have been a gradual process, not one huge migration! By the same token, how did the Minoans (who were even earlier) bring the Minoan script to Cyprus? Crete isn't that much closer. Oh I forgot, you reckon they didn't, by again ignoring the evidence! GR wants to re-write history based on his own arbitrary beliefs with little or no evidence, and ignoring or dismissing all the evidence against him.

In summary, more garbage from the forum clown!

No, it is NOT rubbish because you’re not using your head Simon!

Trading is one thing but MIGRATING PEOPLE (men, women, and children) in their thousands, is quite another and those things are not exactly your modern cruisers are they?

It looks like you can fit 20-30 people in one of those, most of which would have to use the oars if they're to go anywhere!

Hmm, I wonder how this “great migration” took place… it would take about 35 of these boats just to get 1,000 people across if they all survive! (A one month journey?)

It must’ve been one hell of an operation to coordinate to get thousands of fleeing refugees out of there and safely onto Cyprus… I guess the invading Dorians must’ve helped them evacuate or even lend them some of their own boats!

Don’t you just love mythology? It does away with real life impossibility and let’s you manufacture anything you want… :D

Mycenaean Shipwreck dated 1400BC found north of Cyprus.

Bye Bye GatTourri!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh I nearly forgot!

Even if just 100 Mycenaeans (three boat loads per year) migrated to Cyprus per annum over just one measly Century, then the Mycenaean migration to Cyprus would number number some 10,000 people.

And this would have been ample to stamp their Hellenism throughout the island especially due to the fact that Archaeologists are only able to prove the existence of a mere 300-600 Choirokitians prior to their arrival to Cyprus...

CYPRUS WAS MOSTLY UNINHABITED.

The real national struggle indeed .Our people to unite and get those occupying foreign troops back to their home. Get the Cypriot people to cast off the chains of oppression by Turkey and Greece and proclaim loudly that Cypriots we are and Cypriots we shall be .

ps.Denis , how is the date mate

FFS Milt, what chains of oppression do you currently have from Greece?

This is getting f**** ridiculous

The chains of oppression are the mental ones , the perpetuating brain washing that WE ARE NOT CYPRIOTS but Hellenes . The continuation by the Church to deny our people their true natural inclination to be Cypriots. Why on earth does a church have to fly a Greek flag and violate by so doing my rights as a Cypriot to be a Cypriot.
The brain washing or rather the indiscriminate mental rape that is continuing is what I call " oppression" .
The T/Cs are far more exposed to it than the G/Cs but one can understand their guarded misapprehension at letting lose of their own chains.

So you feel mentally oppressed by Greece because the church flies a Greek flag?

Milt, our church is the Greek orthodox church..they're not gonna fly the Canadian flag.

And you're equating this with the physical occupation of our country by the Turkish army? Have we lost the plot a little?

You know me better than that DT !
As for the Greek Orthodox Church flying the Greek flag what do you think the Canadian Anglcan Church flies , or the Australian Anglican Church or even the Spanish Catholic Church !!!

Erm, I would like to point out that the Anglican Church is the Queen's Church and they do fly the British Flag and promote and allegiance to a foreign Monarch.

Bye Bye Milt!...

The Mycenaeans settled on the western edge of Cyprus at Maa-Palaikastro as early as 1190 BCE Within a few decades, they moved into the Cypriot city of Paphos (also called Palaipaphos, to distinguish it from the later Roman town of Nea Paphos) and shared the city with the Cypriot inhabitants. The Minians also moved to Cyprus, settling the north and east of the island in early eleventh century. By the tenth century, much of Cyprus was Hellenized.

Hmm, according to your link…

“…discovered off the south coast of Turkey in the Mediterranean Sea near the city of Kaş in the province of Antalya”

It looks like some of your Mycenaean mates wondered off to Turkey… they must’ve had a ball there spreading “Hellenic” culture!

Btw, I loved the pictures! That boat is big enough to have carried an entire family at a time! A couple more centuries and they should ALL arrive on Cyprus! Image

Even if just 100 Mycenaeans (three boat loads per year) migrated to Cyprus per annum over just one measly Century, then the Mycenaean migration to Cyprus would number number some 10,000 people.

They're still arriving, only they call them Pontians these days... 8)

CYPRUS WAS MOSTLY UNINHABITED.

I heard that the only thing the Mycenaeans found when they got there was a sign that read... "If you can read this you can't possibly be Mycenaean!"

Come to think of it... those poor shipwrecked Mycenaeans had no idea they’d be writing history, for this may well be the oldest recorded anal sex on a beach! Image
