Quality of its life is of primary importance. The poor things already have a high pain threshold before they ill complain.

The vet suggested we put her down last week but she is not in any pain, one day she leaps about like a kitten and then sleeps for hours. She has kidney failure and is losing weght but surprisingly still has a good appetite. It's so sad when they go.

That is so cruel! How do you know she is not in pain?? Kidney failure, losing weight and the ripe old age of 20 you really ought to reconsider. Are you sure you are not having her put to sleep because of your own selfish reasons? :?

The vet said she is not in pain. If we thought she was we would take her in straight away, she sits on my lap and purrs. Yesterday she lay basking in the sunshine with her 18 years old son. We have had four cats put to sleep over the years, we will know when it's time.

The cat, the name 'Purdey' and the gamekeeper. Remember, I am also the hunter as well as the action man.

You give yourself too much credit, just returning the compliment.
Have a good day.

That’s why I never have pets Deniz… too short a lifespan so they kick the bucket before you do!

Is that an underhand way of telling me to 'snuff it'?

I know what you mean. They fill a great gap in your life. For once you can talk and not get nagged back.
