http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCXbV1c0 ... annel_page

A Malaysian zikr at the Nakşibendi Dergahı in Lefke! Do the Turkish Cypriot religious authorities know about this one?

Merhaba Tim Gardash.

The leader of the Nakshibendi Dergah at Lefke Sheikh Nazim is a classmate of Denktash (senior). I think they have a very good idea of their presence.

vesselam

D

It gets curiouser and curiouser. Thanks for the info.

It is said that u can visit him any time, any day u wish. Just knock the door of his house in Lefke and get in... It is said that u don't need to be a member of his sect member in order to be accepted as a guest of him.

That I can assure you is true. On a hot day you will also be offered 'rose-water to refresh yourself. No wink necessary here.

Is this the root of the Turkish word 'davet', then? I think there are cases where Arabic has dropped a final 't' that used to exist, whereas this has been retained in the Turkish loan word. Is this one such case? Maybe Deniz can assist.
That being so, what does the Turkish word 'dava' (also a loan word from Arabic) derive from?

The future without believing and worshipping your creator in this world may be bright for some time till you die but after you die will be very dark and painful. This life is just a test for hereafter and life hereafter is forever. Consider it carefully. If I offer you a beautiful house to live for some days and the most beautiful house to live forever after some days, which offer will you choose being a sensible person?

choice is your brother in humanity

No compultion in religion, truth stands clear from error. (Al Qur'an)

I think "Dawah" is rather closely associated with "Dava" meaning "Cause".
......Cause as in "Cosa Nostra" (Our Cause in Italiano)

Seriously speaking, I have checked this out in a very interesting resource I have recently found for Turkish etymology (and one that I am sure will interest Deniz if he doesn't already know about it):

http://www.nisanyansozluk.com/

From this page:

http://www.nisanyansozluk.com/search.as ... a&x=16&y=9

it seems that the Turkish words 'dava' and 'davet' both derive from the same Arabic word.
