Direct flights between Kayseri and Ercan Airport have been launched.
The first flight was made yesterday when a Cyprus Turkish Airlines (CTA) jet flew from Ercan Airport to Erkilet Airport in Kayseri with a group of passengers on board.
The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Salih Usar and the CTA Director Ahmet Akpınar were among the passangers flying to the Turkish city.
Speaking at a joint press conference, Mr Usar predicted that an important increase would be seen in the number of tourists visiting the TRNC thanks to the flights launched by the CTA, Turkish Airlines and private airlines to new destinations, inspite of the %40 decline expected in world tourism.
The Minister added that Plans were underway to establish direct flights between Ercan and some other Turkish cities.
Reminding that flights to Iran, Romania, Italy, Scandinavian countries and Germany have started, he said `these are expected to make important contributions to the tourism sector`.
Mutual flights between Ercan and Erkilet Airports will be carried out on Thursdays and Sundays.
