Take a look at this Cyprus Mail article

Title:
Eurocrats want to snag British bases

And the link right here:
http://www.cyprus-mail.com/news/main.ph ... 7&cat_id=1

Two things stand out to me. Why does this article have a British conservative spin to it? I am not complaining, i am asking why because this is the Cyprus Mail. Shouldnt a news agency thats called the "Cyprus Mail" have ohh i dont know, A CYPRIOT PERSPECTIVE AND NOT ONE THAT BRITISH? If i wanted to get a British perspective, wouldnt i just visit the BBC website or something similar?

Why not interview Cypriot politicians instead of British, after all, these bases ARE located in Cyprus. Maybe, just maybe, our politicians might have something to say on this issue. Would our politicians agree with Brussels? I dont know if they would or not because the Cyprus Mail isnt quoting our politicians on this matter.

The second thing that puzzles me about articles like this from the Cyprus Mail.....who is the author? Is this article being reproduced by the Cyprus Mail? Who knows. LOL

I saw this earlier and thought what a great idea, and posted it here ...

http://www.cyprus-forum.com/cyprus21659-30.html

This shouldn't slip through our fingers. I don't think the UK can justify keeping the Bases, in this day and age, especially now we have an EU partnership.

I think the Bases would be excellent (if we can't get them back 100%) to use for stationing EU Forces ... in preparation for them kicking out the Turks. :D

Here's a chance for some bright spark RoC politician to use this as a loophole or leverage to get the Brits to behave more like Europeans and help us towards freedom and democracy (for a change) ....

So sorry, you can't have the British Bases back yet.

They are still waiting for their title deeds! along with 100,000 other people
who can't move 'cos they can't sell.

I think one base should be given to the ROC(PREFERABLY dhekelia)AND Akrotiri after a bit of reduction to half lets say which would still be about 65sq km to be a EU BASE.
