ENOSIS is dead?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

ENOSIS is dead?

Postby denizaksulu » Fri Apr 03, 2009 9:35 am

KIBRIS, the Turkish Cypriot daily is quoting from the Greek Cypriot press, the words of Chrisostomos II. At a memorial service, commemorating the Anniversary of the formation/foundation of EOKA, he is allegedly calling for ENOSIS to be put on the agenda again.

This is the quote in Turkish.

Was this an April Fool fingy or was it a serious comment by a cleric?

It may have been a serious comment by a cleric, but nobody takes him seriously.

IMO he probably did say it, and seriously meant it. But it's true, no educated person can take him seriously, not after all that Cyprus has gone through. What on earth would be the point ?

May God help them.

Unfortunate time. I just wanted to know whether it was an April Fools joke.

I got it from 'KIBRIS' Halil.

Searched the archives of both Phileleftheros and Politis and found no such thing. Politis would have splashed it as a headline if it had happend.

The quote I mentioned refers to the 'Greek Press'. The others have the quote as being from the 'Alithea'.

Probably an April Fools joke, since what Chrysostomos said that day is that he supported Christofias for a federation based on democracy and human rights.

But if we assume that somebody made this statement. Why being shocked by it? Union with Greece was after all the desire of the vast majority of the Cypriot people, in accordance with UN resolutions about decolonization, it would violate the human rights of nobody, and the only reason that it didn't happen is because this right of the Cypriot people was denied by foreign Imperialists.

On the other hand, Halil and others who are now "shocked" because they thought that such statement was made, are people who support the partition of Cyprus and the "trnc", a crime which actually happened, with the human rights violations of 100s of thousands of innocent people.
