How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The quote I mentioned refers to the 'Greek Press'. The others have the quote as being from the 'Alithea'.

Have searched the alithia archives as well. The only mention of the commemoration of EOKA was the event at the ELeftheria stadium were no such speeches were made and the Archbishop was not even present.

Piratis is dead right Halil. You express shock at the mention of enosis (even though there WAS NO mention) and yet you live TAKSIM every day.

This is the quote in Turkish.

Was this an April Fool fingy or was it a serious comment by a cleric?

Deniz, I don't understand the Turkish which you have posted and don't know the exact translation but I happened to see the interview on the TV and was trying to understand what he meant. It might have come out a little wrong but from what I understood he said 'we have to stand united
to achieve a Cyprus solution'. It didn't mention anything about ENOSIS and Greece. It was referring to internal unity.

Typical considering someone posted an article a while back claiming it was reffering to enosis when it was reffering to Evropaiki Enosis...(European Union.)

I noticed a panic on G/cs side/ All trying to excuss anyboidy on their side stated to refer to Union with Greece.

Of course Union with Greece is not on todays G/cs agenta but it was their main target few years ago.

lets compare the Targets:

Geek side 1478-1960 - main target Union with Greece
Turkish side: 1960-1974 :Target TAKSIM

Today's situation:

Greeks target : unknown - anything offered is acceptable/negotiable
Turks : NOT TARGET BUT ACHIEVEMENT : 5 MINUTES BEFORE TAKSIM

Just a comparizon of situations/politicians/power/STABILITY ON TARGETS.

This bit, "Kıbrıs’ın Yunanistan’la birleştirilmesi hedefini yeniden gündeme getirelim" says.

Let us bring to the forefront, the aim of 'Uniting Cyprus with Greece'.

It could be a misquote, but this is what is said. Whether he said it or not is another matter.

Perhaps Tim could find time to translate my little quote (as a second opinion).

No panic, just hate it when something this absurd is quoted as fact by the TC newspapers.
