They never talked about a 2 state solution...Independant that is...
They always talked about a 2 state confederation...
The way I look at it, if they wanted a 2 state indepandant, read 2 countries, solution they woukd have been discussing it long ago and they would have been happy with 20% of Cyprus...or any percentage figure...
They officially talked about it in 1965. They insuniated it at every occasion(e.g; declaration of TRNC), following a frustration stemed from Hellenic ruling class; e.g majority rule insistence, PKK-Hellene coloboration, anti-Turkish stance of diaspora Hellenes, Osmosis policy of Hellens via EU.
They mostly talk abt confederation because they consider confederation more feasible when taken into account that most of the Hellenes r against 2 seperate states. Moreover, globalization requires Hellenes and Turks to reconcile, colloborate in the interests of western alliance. 2 seperate states might cause new problems between Hellenes and Turks and negatively affect the relations in western alliance.
As for the percentage of land we would demand in case of an agreed partition; I guess it would be no less than 25%-27%.
