Cypriots were terrorised by the Ottomans, we have ample evidence. Obviously it was effective in subjugating uprisings. Gawd knows how much more they did, than we are left with in our records!

But let's not underestimate the impact being a British colony had upon Cyprus.

By the 50's Cyprus not only had (1) the might of the British Empire still ruthlessly clinging on to Cyprus; but also (2) GB was joined by one of the most evil "nations" to be allowed to formulate in our neighborhood, and Turkey having sunk its teeth into Cyprus was never going to let go.

Since Greece did not manage to destroy Turkey (what does not kill you makes you stronger), it grew and unleashed its monstrous strength upon our poor Island, and saps us (and the EU) to this day.

So how is the EU going to regain its territory?

Cyprus belongs to Cypriots not the EU.

Cyprus is an integrated part of the EU. Cypriots pay into this institution. Think of it as "protection money"/ insurance. Therefore Cyprus can expect support when it is threatened/under attack -as it is, the whole time the Turkish army continue to occupy Cyprus-EU territory.

So far they have done ----all. ( I apologise what you may imagine I might be saying).

It’s a little bit like a cancer patient joining BUPA and expecting it to cover all the costs of the treatment. All agreements have a legacy exclusion provision; it only covers for the future not the past. If you wanted to include that in your insurance cover, you wouldn't be able to afford the insurance.

When will the GC stop thinking that someone else is going to solve the Cyprus problem and start negotiating in good faith.
