Did anyone spot the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus flag flying high in the crowd?

This may be a minor irritation and important to a small section of the community who gets its kicks from such campness and who enjoys a good old moan about banalities for larynx lubrication purposes. But is it enough of an issue to warrant a thread in the Cyprus Problem section? What is this, the village well?

Reflects your own lack of diversity, where you cant compete you prefer to downgrade and dismiss so as not to concede your own deficiencies..

The thread is not so much about the contest itself but a prime and clear cut example of how the TCs will never get a chance to represent a united Cyprus due to a biased GC "majority" who will never allow this and leave TCs at their mercy in all walks of life.

I for one would like to propose legislation within the RoC which makes it compulsory that only a TC entry can compete in Euro-vision and prohibit GCs from participating in this pointless song contest. :D

I think at this point all GCs would agree...

Why not a joint effort of our best singers and music writers why GCs every year? This only shows what the "RoC" is really about.

Plenty of Greek flags but no GC flags in the final your song didnt make it yet again what was it the 5th failure? but there was definately a TRNC flag who knows another 20 years and we may even get a singer in the competition.

Also, out of the untalented pool of entrants, the young GC singer was the best, but she along with all the other entrants are no musicians or entertainers of any note.

The RIK Eurovision committee lacks the funds to be able to entice a real star. Other countries like Greece spend millions on Eurovision, but I have no idea why. :?

Well, in Australia I counted about half a dozen Cypriot flags milling around the Greek supporters who were holding Greek Flags.

Could not see any "trnc" or Principality of Hutt River Flags....

Advertising and the revenue such a win will bring to a country is why countires take it seriously, plus a little national pride.

Maybe the TC and GC musicians like the UK (5th after years of coming last) should take it seriously and work hard at finding the right combination to get a result, its a great showcase for a country to promote and show itself maybe our division is why other countries do not take you guys seriously and bother to vote for a song which is embroiled in discrimination and biased mindset.

Reflects your own lack of diversity,

There's only one of me. How can an individual lack diversity? Or are you lumping me in with the 'G'Cs. I refuse to be lumped.

I haven't tried to compete. I'm happy to concede my own deficiences. I am not a singer or a songwriter.

Yet in the US, where back in the 1960s people were segregated according to race, the white "majority" have, in 2008, elected a black President.

Of course things may have been different if a third of US territory had been invaded and occupied by an African army, cleansing it of its non-black population and making it a home exclusively for blacks. Someone like Obama would probably have struggled to get votes in the free part of America in such circumstances.
