Elena Paparizou is also doing OK.
I mean no one takes this competition seriously. It has become a big joke. The voting is along preexisting alliances. The Greek and Cypriot alliance is absolutely nothing compared to the Turkish Black Sea alliance or the Nordic, Baltic, and Slavic alliances.
Eurovision offers very little. It is just a bright light manufactured showcase of poor and unknown musicians and that would not attract much advertising or is even remotely entertaining unless you like the comedy...
Have you heard of:
Celine Dion Cliff Richard Lulu or Tatu...even this year a big star like Patricia Kass competed so you cannot say it does not have variety and with over 350 million viewers I dont they are to concerned what you think. Its a success whether you like it or not did you see the technical detail this year 1000 sq footage of stage and 20.000 live audience so its nothing to turn your nose up in terms or international exposure and benefit if you should happen to win, which the GC state at this rate will never do. Why dont the GCs pull out if they feel it is not worth while or if they feel they do not have the talent. It was not long ago that a GC from the UK did very well.
Celine Dion is a Canadian and was already an accomplished singer before she sung for Switzerland and is not even Swiss, but the song writer was. She made it on her own and the
Euro-No-Vision did not have anything to do with her immense success. Cliff Richards and Lulu were also accomplished British home base singers before they went to the
Euro-No-Vision, and they remained British home base and did not make it International, therefore they too did not benefit from this "contest". ABBA is perhaps the best results the
Euro-No-Vision ever produced by propelling a very talented group onto the international stage, just because it was the 70's, they were new and original. But hey, even a broken clock gives the correct time twice a day.!
