You spent almost a year telling us before the Nov 4, 2008 US elections on how racist the Americans were and that NO way would they ever elect a Black Man as their President.

Then just imagine how bad the GCs are in comparison.

The RIK Eurovision committee lacks the funds to be able to entice a real star. Other countries like Greece spend millions on Eurovision, but I have no idea why. :?

Advertising and the revenue such a win will bring to a country is why countires take it seriously, plus a little national pride.

Maybe the TC and GC musicians like the UK (5th after years of coming last) should take it seriously and work hard at finding the right combination to get a result, its a great showcase for a country to promote and show itself maybe our division is why other countries do not take you guys seriously and bother to vote for a song which is embroiled in discrimination and biased mindset.

No VP. I insist. the TCs can have a go all on their own.

The only group that actually made a name for themselves from Eurovision, was Sweden's Abba. I am talking internationally here.

Elena Paparizou is also doing OK.

I mean no one takes this competition seriously. It has become a big joke. The voting is along preexisting alliances. The Greek and Cypriot alliance is absolutely nothing compared to the Turkish Black Sea alliance or the Nordic, Baltic, and Slavic alliances.

Eurovision offers very little. It is just a bright light manufactured showcase of poor and unknown musicians and that would not attract much advertising or is even remotely entertaining unless you like the comedy...

Have you heard of:

Celine Dion Cliff Richard Lulu or Tatu...even this year a big star like Patricia Kass competed so you cannot say it does not have variety and with over 350 million viewers I dont they are to concerned what you think. Its a success whether you like it or not did you see the technical detail this year 1000 sq footage of stage and 20.000 live audience so its nothing to turn your nose up in terms or international exposure and benefit if you should happen to win, which the GC state at this rate will never do. Why dont the GCs pull out if they feel it is not worth while or if they feel they do not have the talent. It was not long ago that a GC from the UK did very well.

this only proves one thing - That I am not too interested in Eurovision and don't pay enough attention to it.....

There are many GC singers with the potential of wining the competition outright. but the endorsements that RIK offer are not enticing enough to attract our big stars such as Anna Vissi for example.

If true, this bias is true of Cypriots on both sides of the current divide.

And due to the lack of foreign interference and military intervention.

You have to look towards yourself for the answers, the guarantor only intervened because of the actions of GCs, lets not go over old groud again but it appears to me you are passing the buck all the time and making excuses so as to avoid addressing the GCs racists and biased stance especially against TCs.

How racist can we be when all TCs rely on the RoC for IDs, passports and health care? We are a caring and forgiving lot, you know that...

Who are we speaking to tonight?

Is it Mr. VP or Ms. VP?

because of the actions of fascists. Don't include me. Don't lump me with them. That's what bigots do. I don't make excuses for fascists whichever side they think they come from. You do that.

I'm addressing bigoted attititudes and bias whichever side it comes from because either way it's destructive. This isn't an argument between GCs and TCs, this is an argument between bigots and non-bigots. What side are you on?

You are obviously trying to divert from the issue that is GCs will never choose a TC to represent a united Cyprus. They have proven this over the whole time they have one sidedly participted in this competition, like it or not your are a GC and therefore not a TC who is being discrminated against. Bigots are rampant on both sides of the divide the only difference is they are more in numbers in the south and better orchastrated be it the state or the church, thats why GC would rather die than seee a TC represent a united Cyprus.

If racism is equal to mistrust then I am guilty otherwise I do not want to place my future totally in the hands of people my community has good reason never to trust again. Only strong safeguards and guarantees can go someway to building the trust which is clearly lacking.

I doubt they will while it's divided.

DON'T TELL ME WHAT I AM! Don't label me. That's what bigots do.

You're one of them. If you want things to change... change.

Cyprus isn't united. That's why there is bigotry.

Celine Dion is a Canadian and was already an accomplished singer before she sung for Switzerland and is not even Swiss, but the song writer was. She made it on her own and the Euro-No-Vision did not have anything to do with her immense success. Cliff Richards and Lulu were also accomplished British home base singers before they went to the Euro-No-Vision, and they remained British home base and did not make it International, therefore they too did not benefit from this "contest". ABBA is perhaps the best results the Euro-No-Vision ever produced by propelling a very talented group onto the international stage, just because it was the 70's, they were new and original. But hey, even a broken clock gives the correct time twice a day.!
