Airport Transfer Help!

Postby boychild » Fri Mar 27, 2009 6:30 pm

Hi All,

We are new to this site and hoping for some advice. We are visiting Protarus in June for a week and have been looking for airport-resort transfers but they are all very very expensive! We will have 4 adults and 1 child, with 4 cases. The best prices i've found so far is £185 return, but was hoping maybe someone could offer some advice if its possible to get the price down at all, or an alternitive to a private transfer? We are returning for our 5th anniversary after getting married in the Grecian Park in 2004. Also, have the general prices risen much recently ie local beers, sprits, foods? Cant wait to come back to Cyprus!

Thanks in advance!

Hi, welcome to the forum Vikki.

I'm guessing at those prices you are flying into Paphos? If your flying into Larnaca then you really are being ripped off there.

Just an idea, why don't you hire a car for the week. If the price you have been quoted is £185 then a car for a week wouldnt cost much more than that.

The prices haven't risen but the £ against the Euro is poor which makes it expensive.

By the way, it's Protaras :)

Have a good holiday!

Thanks for your reply...and for correcting me lol!

No we fly into Larnaca, the reason its probably such a high price is because there is 5 of us, if there were only 4 it would be alot less as we could get a normal taxi/car. Same applies to car hire, we would need a big car to fit 4 adults, a child in a car seat and 4 cases in, so when we looked into car hire it was in the region of £300. i have searched the internet and cant get anything under £165 return! Im guessing 2x taxis would be more expensive? Its about 45 mins away from the airport isnt it? When i have visited in the past its been with a package holiday so transfer were always included and also very long with numerous drops offs.

What time are you arriving? If it is weekdays at daytime then it is 11,85 Euro per person, 14,20 on Sunday. And if the child is small I don't think they will charge you for it, unless you really have to put it on a seat. But you can just keep it on your knees, it is only 25 minutes drive.

There is an airport shuttle from Larnaca to Nicosia, and another to Limassol with a connection to Pahos, but there isn't one that heads east, I am afraid.

Thank you all for your replies. I think after much research we have decided to pay the extra and hire a car, which means once we are there we dont need any taxis to get around. Any recommendations for car hire places would be greatly appreciated.

There are several car hire offices at Larnaca airport.
