May I remind you, taking the recent furore over the meeting between Talat and Hilary Clinton into consideration, that during Papadopoulos's reign (of terror) Talat met Condoliza but the cretins that are shouting now at the top of their voice, kept very quite at the time.

Similarly all these cretins who are shouting because Christofias expressed preference for Talat over Eroglu, kept their lips tight when Papadopoulos was secretly meeting Serdar Denktash to decide to keep the Cyprus issue unsolved, probably for ever. Even when the talks reached a critical level, the cretin non defeatists prefer to meet Denktash, again in secret, rather than negotiate the Plan and get a better deal, even Karpas.

The meeting between condi and talat was more a slap on the wrist for the annan plan than anything else. Whereas now, its simply a case of Hillary being placed in an impossible situation by erdogan.

Your second point reinforces those that say it doesn't matter who you meet in the north, its Turkey that invaded and only Turkey can withdraw. Denktash, Eroglu and talat are one and the same for them so it does'nt;t matter who you meet. They're all taking orders from above.

Now are you telling me that the chant "take what we're given, don't aim for higher" is not defeatist?

Surely you can do better than this cheap argument. And the "chant" as you say (which I have never heard from any responsible person) is just an artifact to scare poeple off, but it does not work any more.

You did not, by the way, tell us your view on the limited war idea where we can lose up to 20 000 persons (and no more!) suggested by some of your forum friends. I thought to congratulate you for not going along this stupid road but on second thoughts your silence on this says rather a lot.

I did read the thread after the heated exchanges died down and didn't see much point in contributing. I tend to avoid science fiction threads.

Science fiction often becomes fact given a long enough period of time.
