I know it Mate!!

Its just that you put so much importance on such small events. They have nothing to do with 'recognition'.

Couldn't be more wrong DT. It will be a huge mistake to withdraw from it too, for obvious reasons. I agree South Cyprus should be replaced with Cyprus, but leaving it would be a mistake in my opinion.

Cyprus should pursue membership with prestigious associations .... of which there are plenty enough!

Bananiot just like the recent tourist conference in Moscow where the Cypriots threatened to withdraw if the "north cyprus" promoters were allowed to exhibit. The organisers made a quick calculation and figured they make more money out of Cyprus than "north Cyprus"

In this case (a very small example but excellent case study) my money is on the fact that this is just a group of professionals who wish to run their own club. Lack of experience and lack of bureocracy and communication lines have led to a membership list which includes a north and south cyprus. tc member offered up a week at the beach and up comes the conference.

I for one agree with you that the more clubs we are represented in the better, however if our participation is of such an incapable level where simple things such as this are overlooked then it might be better to steer clear and report the incident.

So are you now saying that we are members of this organisation? Obviously you do not know what battles are being fought to gain membership to such organisations and who pays for the membership fees. However, you did make a reference to the fact that economics may be more important than morals, perhaps then you are getting ready to join the pragmatists' club.

I've always been a pragmatist. You're the only one I know that has combined pragmatism and defeatism together though.

The word defeatism is used by cretins who have nothing concrete to suggest. Please refrain from using it.

May I remind you, taking the recent furore over the meeting between Talat and Hilary Clinton into consideration, that during Papadopoulos's reign (of terror) Talat met Condoliza but the cretins that are shouting now at the top of their voice, kept very quite at the time.

Similarly all these cretins who are shouting because Christofias expressed preference for Talat over Eroglu, kept their lips tight when Papadopoulos was secretly meeting Serdar Denktash to decide to keep the Cyprus issue unsolved, probably for ever. Even when the talks reached a critical level, the cretin non defeatists prefer to meet Denktash, again in secret, rather than negotiate the Plan and get a better deal, even Karpas.
