How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Cyprus Forum... harnessing its real power...

Postby cannedmoose » Tue Jun 07, 2005 5:54 pm

Folks, since we debate so much on finding a solution to the problem and have proposed so many plans on here as to how the AP could be revised, new plans that could be devised etc. etc., here's a suggestion as to how the CYforum could genuinely make a difference.

I was flicking through my copy of the Cyprus Weekly that landed on my doormat today and found a one-page open letter by Chris Economides to TPap calling for the resumption of talks aimed at demilitarisation. Would it not be possible (obviously cost comes into this) for the CYForum members to draft a proposal and take out such an advert both in a prominent Cyprus newspaper and a prominent TRNC paper with letters addressed to both leaders collectively. Then, if we've stirred up a debate and anyone's brave enough to fight the cause on TV, we could really stir up a hornets nest. In that respect, we'd go from being a forum to an interest and lobby group.

Anyway, that's my far-fetched idea for the day... I'll leave it to you folks for input.

P.S. I'm not rich, I'm not Cypriot and I don't have great contacts, so don't expect me to run it!

That sounds like a great idea and i nominate "Alex Lordos" to run it, from what i gather he is well connected, has the man power to push such a project and also is not so bad on the financial side plus with his qualifications and studies he has done on cyprus would be taken seriousley.

What do you say Alex you up for the challenge.

Gentlemen

I would like to second Mr Brother's proposal that Mr Lordos be involved with this interesting idea from Mr cannedmoose.

I would also like to nominate, for inclusion in this idea, Mr erolz
AND to nominate Mr cannedmoose inclusion as well.

If need be we will declare Mr cannedmoose an exemplary Honourary Cypriot.

Seconders please?

Looking good now all we need is the nominees to accept the challenge.

Yes, I agree with suetoniuspaulinus's post on the nominations.
I am also willing to contribute financially, if the need arises.

Still, allow me to doubt that we will be able to finalize an agreed draft.
