Cyprus Forum... harnessing its real power...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Charges

I would propose a Member's Fee equivalent to CY£10 or 30 YTL I need help with Eoros please

and perhaps if membership is high enough this amount might accomodate all our costs.

There are other possibilities no doubt.

Then, if we've stirred up a debate and anyone's brave enough to fight the cause on TV, we could really stir up a hornets nest. In that respect, we'd go from being a forum to an interest and lobby group.

To be a lobby group we would have to have a common agreed agenda. Do we have that? I am not sure we have. Such a common agreed agenda would be the place to start with an idea like this I think? (as pointed out by Big Dutch already).

our common agenda is to get both administrations involved to get on their ass and solve the problem.

after that there are certain points that most of us on here can agree to.

Well we coould just lobby for all polticians around the world to get off their asses and create world peace as well. In my experience the more tight and specific your lobbying objective is the more effectively you can lobby.

Do not get me wrong. I want to 'do things' and not just talk. I am just not convinced that 'lobbying for our politicans to solve the problem' is a worhtwhile effort - given that there are already organisations, both bi communal and seperate that are doing the same and have been fpor a long time now. Would it not be better to just join these and direct effort there?

I agree. First we have to agree between us, and I am not sure this is going to happen :(

We can agree on some things probably (like we want a solution). Like yourslef I am not sure we could agree on anything 'tight enough' to make 'lobbying' for it worthwhile. Of course that does not mean we should not try to get such an agreement. All I am saying is that is where we should start with an idea like this (imho) and not on who will do what and how much membership would be etc etc.

Exactly. Some time ago I tried to start some discussions for the main principles but without much luck.
I think the main principles come first. Then if we can agree on those we can more to further and further details, and if we manage to agree on something quite detailed then lobbying would be possible.
Thats quite far at the moment.
