Cyprus must be liberated

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Simon » Sat Mar 21, 2009 7:52 pm

Precisely. As I suggested at the outset GR, it has been so easy for Turkey to occupy Cyprus for so long, because there has been peace, and no substantial pressure on Turkey to leave. They have had free reign for 35 years. This must change.

Absolutely. For as long as they confront no resistance, Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots will continue playing games wasting Cyprus’ time, and keeping our beautiful northern territory as a backwards Anatolian junk yard that it has unfortunately come to represent in the last three decades; just imagine how much more prosperous and influential Cyprus would’ve been without this cancer infesting our northern section.

So; who is the pro-military action leader, Hellenic hero of GCs that would materialize the military action? Maybe GR following a coup D'etat?

The idea is to cause enough commotion, 10 or 20 thousand dead from each side, and so much damage, that Turkey will have to pack it in from too much pressure.

The pressure for Greece to join in will escalate by the day, huge riots will take place in major Greek cities calling on their government to assist Cyprus, London will panic at the thought of losing the bases, just as the pressure for the US to stop this before Greece joins in will also add to Turkey’s pressure.

The key ingredient is a HUGE COMMOTION to break the deadlock and liberate Cyprus.

Get Real,
This is a stark staring bonkers proposal and scenario ... a casual "10 or 20 thousand dead" ....

I agree. Their aim is to take our lands. This was their aim when they invaded Cyprus the first time in 1571, this was their aim in 1974, and this continues to be their aim today.

The Turks that post here prove what you say, all they do is demand something that is not theirs.

With all do respect, your post is absolutely irrelevant to my point. I can point out one inaccuracy in your post though, most dislike EOKA B, not the original EOKA, whom I referred to. They are still seen as heroes and freedom fighters by the vast majority.

So you prefer getting drunk and going on facebook, rather than liberating your country. Fair enough. You basically don't care enough, which is what I suspected of many GCs. If that is the attitude of today's youth in Cyprus, let us agree to partition today and quit messing around.

At this time we need to be united more than ever, if we aren't then the Turks will take advantage of this like before.

I don't think we should send a single GC to their death because of the Turks, ever again! Too many of them, and not enough GCs in the world. We have to use our strength, which is our superior resilience and intellect.

Besides, we are in the EU now, and it's not just our war.

The French and Germans do not want Turkey in the EU, so what are they going to do about it? Turkey is "in" the EU with this illegal occupation of EU territory. They should put be prepared to fight the Turks, and get them out!

I say we put pressure on the EU to deliver.

President X should ignore Talat, and only meet with the Turks in the presence of EU representatives who will support him.

Yes because Larnaca seafront really looks the business these days with its Pizza Hut and McDonalds. No doubt Kyrenia harbour would've had a KFC and Burger King to boot. Greed on both sides of the divide is flourishing.
