How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Bananiot, what headway? You've never strayed once from your personal "party" line. You don't add a millimetre of flexibility or understanding of where 90% of Cypriots of my generation are coming from.

Whats the point of having a serious discussion if all you'll do is support the side you've chosen and I get stuck trying to tell a GC to show some equal sympathy to the horrors his countrymen have lived through. Instead I get a reference to 1919  That's when the level of our discussion went downhill Bananiot, I suggest you read back and see for yourself.

And then he doesn't want us to talk about 1571-1878 because that doesn't go well with his Turkish propaganda.

Between 1571-1878, Cyprus was under the control of the Ottoman Empire. During this period the Empire was ruled by Emperors who were, genetically speaking, typically equal or less than 2% Turk. Furthermore, due to the nature of the govermental system of the Empire, its Turkish citizens (more acccurately: subjects) had neither elected representation nor any kind of right/influence on and access to how, where and by what means the Empire was to be governed and administered. We were by no means any part of the decision-making process - ever. In simpler terms: whatever ill or well treatment you think you received from the Ottoman regime (and in my and numerous historians` opinion it is the latter given the circumstances of the era): we as TCs did not and more importantly could not have had any part in it.

Our official political interaction at a community level with you starts basically in 1959.

So what are all these claims about the rightful influence of Turkey over Cyprus due to 400 tears rule?

The "Turkish Cypriots" are as much Turkish as the Ottomans were. A more precise way to describe this community would be "Muslim Minority", but since you want to be called "Turkish", no problem.

So you can not absolve yourselves of the crimes you committed against us. Yes, not the whole of your population participated in the crimes against us, just your leaders and some individuals. But this is always the case with all conflicts. Don't you hold all of us responsible for the crimes committed by a few within our community?

So stop trying to excuse yourselves for the crimes you committed. It is a fact that you are the ones who invaded our island with the aim to enslave and exploit us, and not the other way around.

Also I want to know the opinion of insan and Viewpoint on this, because they often claim that they were the rulers of Cyprus and not just a minority and they clearly associate themselves with the Ottomans.

Turkey does not claim an inch of Cyprus to be her`s.

On the other hand, TCs live here and it is Turkey`s responsibility and in her interest to look after the rights and well-being of the TCs of this island. Especially given the well-demonstrated GC agression towards us.

So the Turkish community was created in Cyprus just 50 years ago? That is less than the Pakistani community in the UK. We on the other hand have 3500 years of history on our island.

The Cyprus problem is a problem of Turkish expansionism against Cyprus. The Turks invaded Cyprus two times killing many 1000s of Cypriots. And after each invasion they bring their Turkish Settlers on our island and give to them the land they steel from us. That is the Cyprus Problem. If there was no Turkish expansionism then there wouldn't be any Turkish Settlers and Cyprus would have no problem.

The aggression is coming from you. It is you who invaded our island twice. We didn't invade Turkey or Mongolia or Central Asia or whatever place your homeland is. You invade Cyprus kill 1000s of Cypriots and you bring your Settlers here, you give to them the land you steal from us, then you name these settlers "Cypriots" and you try to expand against our island.

Sotos, get a grip mate. You invaded Cyprus before the ottomans. We are all invadres, considering we all came out of Africa. Get back to the real world and learn how to get on with others. You will find it pays off in the long run.
