there was a fire in Guzelyurt today ..... a shop is burned out in Namık Kemal Street (don't ask me what was the old name of the street ) it was on news while ago .

I can give as good as I get, and so too can Rafaella ( ), but it's not about exchanging crude blows to equalise the playing field. So best avoid sexist remarks and then more women would join in.

Some threads like the those you mention are indeed trash threads in my opinion, but other members may disagree with this. Each to their own I guess..

Some General topics are also quite interesting and others are just good fun.

The mentioned threads are merely high vantage points from where we can keep an eye on the children. When necessary we will come off our perch and remind you that we are herre to stay. Gadalavis?

The paper, which is due to be published in The American Naturalist later this year, says that when offered a choice between natural-looking animated males and unnatural males with a digitally-attached sword, the female birchmanni selected the natural looking partners.

Actually I have a gripe about CopperLine.

Too often he just comes in after a couple of debaters get stuck into covering the nitty gritty, and he offers nothing by way of debate, just a posting of "Bigot" and nit-picking about the title or use of a word.

He has aborted a number of lines between debaters just through sheer frustration of arguing over nothing.

bigot n. a fanatical adherent or believer; a person characterized by obstinate, intolerant, or strongly partisan beliefs.

this strikes me as a fair description of Oracle as reflected in her posts. If she, or anyone else, posts something which is fanatical or intolerant; if she posts material which is offensive (frequently downright racist in her case); if she obstinately insists to know other people's views despite the fact that they've never expressed such views, then she can expect people to react and try to correct or refuse the bigotry she expresses.

My reaction to Oracle is simple : no one else on this forum gets close to her frequency of postings and her regular use of racist condemnation of anything Turkish or anything connected with Turkey. Her attitude is simply one of racism and it should not be tolerated and should be challenged whenever it raises itself. That's where I stand : if Oracle complains of the reaction to her racism then the simplest thing would be for her to desist.

For those of us who do not spend our lives on this forum and just dip in and out of it as time and obligations allow it is necessarily the case that sometimes it will appear that we're picking on particular topics or part of topics. That's the nature of a forum like this. 24-hour forum-dwellers will no doubt feel put-out by what seem like interlopers such as myself. But they need - to coin a phrase - get real.[/i]
