I always travel , mostly anyway , with my favourite airline Cyprus Airways . British Airways have always been the most ridiculously expensive air operator to Cyprus . I have sent numerous emails to them and have not minced my words in describing them
It is time now for Cyprus airways to receive a few emails.
Just booked my flight with British Airways departing Friday morning on the 20th March and returning on Wednesday march 25th afternoon flight.
The cost for two £299.80 return
Same flight details with Cyprus Airways also out of Heathrow into Larnaca , morning departure from UK and afternoon departure from Larnaca, the astonishing cost of £539.80 , an amazing £240 more , an 80% more than B.A.
Does Cyprus Airways I wonder watch their competitors prices or do they simply not care . I'm a regular flyer and I can never remember any flight that I have been on totally full , I could never understand why on many occasions CY flew half empty and yet their prices , although at that time cheaper than BA , always on the high side in comparison to other Cyprus flight operators whom I avoid in view of their unwelcome marketing ploys , ie charge for a glass of water , pay extra for your average luggage , pay extra to sit next to your partner or wife and generally the penny pinching practices that leads me to suspect such practices might very well be taking place in areas concerning safety measures etc,
Bravo BA , my £240.00 saving will be pleasantly enjoyed !!!

I used to work at stansted airport for the firm who handle CY airways, so all the check-in staff no me.
Whenever I go back I always fly CY airways, but not anymore!!
I had a little excess luggage this time. 18kgs and was charged £101.00 for the pleasure. The check-in agent and I were friends when I was there and they still charged me. Its not that they charged me its the amount.
If I had flown BA I could have got an extra bag, booked on-line with BA for £24, up to 23kgs.
CY airways will soon go out of business if they carry on with this practise.
I will never fly CY airways again.

But you sound like an idiot when you send emails to BA and Cy Air, because I can tell you that Airlines are finding it difficult to survive atm. Cy Air is on the brink as we speak, and if they go under it will be disastrous for Cyprus. Airlines are businesses and not charities, and they owe you nothing.
If you don't like BA or Cy Air, then fly Easy Jet or Monarch!
As for me, I am very selective and fussy and will choose my airline carefully, regardless of cost. I don't travel with overly cheap airlines as a matter of principle.

On average I travel to Cyprus 6 or 7 times a year . Mostly I fly with CA because they have the best aircraft and the most comfortable seats with your own tv monitor . However Im a business man and will look at the cost too. May I also say that I have NEVER been on a CA flight to Cyprus where all seats were taken , as an average , and believe me I note such situations , the aircraft has a minimum of 24 empty seats , in the winter months this goes up to over 100 , overall the loss by having empty seats is horrendously expensive to the Airline. There are on average 20 flights a week from London to Cyprus by CA. My estimates is that 500 seats are empty , if these seats were offered , let us say 3 days before the flight at a reduced cost of £150.00 the total revenue if only half were taken would amount to 250x£150=£37500 per week =31,950=1,950,000.00 PER ANNUM.Rather a lot of revenue for an almost bankrupt airline.
It seems to me that CA is run by novices when it comes to financial matters .
I fly mostly with CA for the reasons I stated above. BA is my second choice and on rare occasions I fly with Thomas Cook .
Sending an email to CA , which always receives a reply , is not an idiotic action as you so rudely put it but an email bringing to the attention of management that they could be more profitable by being competive and attracting a lot more "weekend " Cypriots flying out for a long weekend to visit family and friends .There are some 300 thousand Cypriots in the UK , many would take advantage of an inexpensive flight to Cyprus more than the once a year habit and do so more regularly as I do.
I have also requested from CA to offer me an annual ticket and offered them the sum of £1500.00 stg up-front with a maximum number of 10 flights per year permitted. Rejected , why , what is the business sense , firstly taking money up front , secondly guaranteeing a minimum price if all 10 flights were taken of £150 per flight , I though it was a good offer !!
ps. Should you reply to this post may I request that you refrain from derogatory childish insults .
