Cypriots are a bunch of ignorant morons, look at you trying to take the heat off your countrymen by pointing the finger at ISOLATED cases elsewhere.Cruelty is the NORM in Cyprus, teach your old YA Ya's, they live in ignorance. Members of the EU? what a joke. Turkish Cypriots treat their animals with respect, treat other humans with respect, they deserve to be EU members, YOU don't.
Oracle, I challenge you, explain why the Cypriot poisons animals with Lanate??? pet animals that is, cats and dogs who belong to family's??? make them suffer such torture???
Lanate poisoning of dogs and cats does happen here in the North - there are weekly warnings about it in the newspapers. The main problem is the amount of strays, if this problem were tackled more effectively then maybe the poisonings would stop. I am sorry about your cats, and those who put the poison down should be punished, but animal cruelty isn't just a Cypriot thing, and you cannot tarnish a whole country for the actions of a few. I lived in a small village when I first moved here and I was always amused by the chickens running around loose (we didn't get many of those in Southend) , but over time I saw this less and less - and do you know why? It was because of stray dogs. And who encourages these packs of stray dogs? Its foreigners who think they are being kind by feeding them. Packs of dogs would normally be driven off - certainly not encouraged. Its altogether a sad situation, but one that could be put right with a sensible programme of neutering.
