Cyprus is a longtime strategic partner of the United States and continues to be so in the Global War on Terrorism.

Cyprus and the United States have a strong relationship going back, at least, to the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing, when Cyprus provided the staging ground for the United States' evacuation and rescue efforts.

Throughout the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, Cyprus has provided over-flight and landing rights to United States aircraft and port access for United States ships. Approximately 800 U.S. military flights have used Cyprus's airports, transporting troops and cargo to Iraq.

So guys here you have it , Milti WAS RIGHT all along.
As for the American haters how dare they insult """ a longtime strategic partner of the United States and continues to be so in the Global War on Terrorism."""

As I have posted on at least 1000000 times , Cyprus is part of the West , America IS our partner !!!!
Oh boy , has this made my day or what !!!

LONG LIVE OUR GREATEST PARTNER THE USA !

Milti, there is a big differance between fighting international terrorism and supporting Israeli Ethnic Cleansing and war crimes like you do.

Eat your words mate , I was RIGHT all along and you know it , don't try to bring the Israeli nonsense into it , furthermore I have never supported either ethnic cleansing or war crimes .

What the hell are you talking about?

You were right about what? The fact that you support Israeli Ethnic cleansing and War Crimes and then you criticise Turkey for her invasion of Cyprus in the same breath. You are just a pathetic contradiction....

Eat your words mate , we are talking about this , you posted it remember , its not about Israel Plonker its about the greatest nation on earth , after Cyprus , and us , little old Cyprus :

Where did anyone say that the Cyprus and the US were not allies? :?

It is our intolerance to injustice you have a problem with. Some people have morals and do not sell their soul to the almighty and powerful when they perpetrate crimes and injustices against innocent people.

Australia is a US ally as well. But most Australians understand right from wrong, and the Iraq War does not have public opinion on its side.

Don't waste my time! IDIOT!

Don't be so humble. A big important country like Turkey shouldn't need tiny Cyprus to help it define itself of where its place in the world is.

I would like to be humble regarding this. Sarkozy needs very basic if clauses to understand some geography:

If South Cyprus is in EU, it is in Europe.
If South Cyprus is in Europe, Turkey is Europe.

this one is to the Greeks:
If Turkey's Anatolia is called Minor Asia, how come South Cyprus is Europe and what the hell is it doing in EU? Consistency is a virtue.

To be a European country or not is not subject of your boarders or your location. Is subject of values people shared and respect in Europe and in this regard Turkey is some decades behind this target.

Turkey is not Europe, but ,of course, can be

You are perfectly wrong. First condition for EU membership is to have land in Europe. If you admit South Cyprus to EU membership, and question Turkey's Europeanness geographically, you just fool yourself. If being European has nothing to do with borders, then Greeks in Australia should be 28th member and Greeks in USA 29th etc... Oh and don't forget the Philippines, they are Christians as well.

Even your country was next to Luxemburg in the map would not be a European country if it had the same culture and political saystem Turkey has today. You thing Turkey is a European country for the simple reason that you do not understand what a European country is.

That is why they may not join for 10 years. Sooner or later it will take place. If they can be in Nato, they can be in the EU.

Of course we did announce that we will open an Embassy in Havana and yesterday, we learned that we did a business deal with Iran. Will someone tell us, for the second time, "God help you and your people"?

What?!!!

I nearly fell off my chair reading this. Let me get this right. You didnt vote for Papadopoulos who's party was centrist, instead your vote went to a communist head and now your wondering why the current Cypriot administration's policies are the way they are towards Havana?!!! Someone, anyone, get this clown OFF THE STAGE!!

And why would Obama want to visit Greece? Your students, the ones that follow your school of thought (extreme left) would have run to the streets burning Athens down. Does Greece really need another riot now from the well off 10 euro frappe sipping commies? Please.

I dont want anyone getting me wrong about Christofias. Unlike Bana and his Cyprus Mail buddies who kept ripping TPAP, i wouldnt do that to Christofias because he is my president and i want him to succeed. I, unlike this twit, am intelligent enough to realize that a just solution is dependent on the policies of the occupational forces. What a furkin moron.

Bananiot hasn't realised that a lot of countries, even from the EU, do a lot of business with Iran...even the US buys oil from Iran...

He thinks Iran is the same with North Korea...

Mashallah re Bananiot...good thing you are here to educate us...

The US is in serious trouble in Afghanistan and so has embarked on an S.O.S mission by courting anyone and everyone who might be able to help them save face from defeat against the rag-tag Afghani camel riders who bow down to none.

So far the courting includes Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, and Russia, and this debacle is going to cost the US heaps and Russia will most likely reap most of the rewards from this.
