Hello,
We are staying at Souli Hotel, Latchi the first week of April, will there be any mosquitos about then?
Have read lots of good stuff about the hotel so am pleased, not been to Cyprus before, out long tem island is Kefalonia but wanted a bit of winter sun, hopefully!
What sort of temps are we looking at? will the sea be warm enough to get into?
LOL lots of questions!
Thanks in advance.

Hi Janey.
I am a Greek Cypriot and not a winter swimmer. I usually start swimming in April.

April climate is sunny as a rule, but of course you may see the occasional storm or cold spell.

I hiked in Akamas early March and it was fantastic. You will be right next to this peninsula and you have a beautiful area to explore.

Hope you enjoy.

Thank you very much Phivos.
I am hoping we like it enough to go back.

Kefalonia for 14 years has seen many changes, some good, some bad, our usual accommodation is having a laugh with their prices and flights are very dear this year.
We tried Skiathos last year, totally choose the wrong accommodation so put us off going again.

I have been to both Kefallonia and Skiathos. I preferred Skiathos beaches and I think both destinations are very nice.

I would tell you that Cyprus, being a bigger place has more variation.
It has also seen a lot of construction in the last decade. You can find (still) find many picturesque villages (if you search) and a very rich cultural and natural heritage here.

Bye for now

Hello Janey

Although a bit early in the season, if you are really bothered by the idea of mosquitoes, use one of those plug in repellents. You can get them from any of the Supermarkets. Or better still, eat lots of Marmite, garlic or maybe start taking Complex B vitamin tablets - they really do work.

April is a great time for hiking in that area and there are many marked trails.

Have fun ....

We were thinking of bringing our walking boots so think we will now.

Any idea how long the transfer by coach from Paphos to Latchi is?

The coach shouldn't take more than an hour, but the scenery is very pleasant so it should go in no time.

BTW Latchi is a bit of a centre for water-sports if you want to try something adventurous, and you can also hire boats for exploring the Akamas coast. Really worth doing.

Cycling is pretty popular too, around the undulating coastal landscape, and you can hire bikes from Polis (next to Latchi) easily enough.

I wish I was there right now :(
