MILLET CALLS OUT TO TALAT AND CHRISTOFIAS TO SEIZE THE OPPORTUNITIES OF A SETTLEMENT

British High Commisioner in Cyprus Peter Millet has once again called out to the two leaders in Cyprus not to miss the opportunity for a political settlement but to seize it.

In an interview to a Greek Cypriot newspaper, Mr Millet said there are a set of opportunities for the solution of the Cyprus problem lying ahead of the two leaders that should not be missed.

Stating that Talat and the Christofias are maintaining the negotiations process with a good rhythm, he said he believed in a solution.

`What the two leaders need is the support of all Cypriots` Millet said.

Responding to a question on Turkey’s role in the solution of the Cyprus problem, the British High Commissioner noted that Turkey has already proven its peaceful stance with its willingness for a settlement.

Underlining the need for reaching a comprehensive solution that is going to cover satisfying elements for both peoples of the island, Millet said the solution process needs to be intensified in order to achieve faster progress.

He also reiterated Britain’s continuous support to a settlement and its strong willingness for the achievement of peace, stability and security in the region.

Adding that the international arena continues its support to the solution of the Cyprus problem, Mr Millet however said that this support will be continuous as long as the possibility of a solution is there.

Turkey has already proven its peaceful stance with its willingness for a settlement.

Biggest load of cock I've heard all week. How can keeping 40,000 illegal troops on the island be interpreted as being a peaceful stance. If Turkey was serious it would at least withdraw a token number but it would see that as losing face and Turkish pride (you get shot for touching the flag) is more important than solving the Cyprus problem. Turkey is willing to accept a peaceful settlement but only on its own terms.
