EU wants to be the home for a united Cyprus.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Just for your information dear boy. My family were one of the ruling families in the Venetian times and were pardoned after the ottoman invasion.

I never thought I’d meet one of Caterina Cornaro’s Muslim descendants! Image

No dear boy. Can't you get anything right. The lovely lady was called Lorenzia and she was from Magosa.

Your grandparents had to come up with a Regal story to hide the shame of what really happened to the family in the past…

No, its not regal its real.

Nothing wrong with a little light-hearted banter but at the risk of getting back on track on this EU affair I would say this to our northern friends, don't get your hopes up with this free-loading, what time's our free lunch contact group.

They will be nice and smiling as they enjoy another bit of winter sun at the tax-payers' expense, that's their job but what isn't their job is to decide whether "agreements" sit well with EU primary laws.

Don't believe me? Then ask yourselves this....

Would the EU make concessions or concede any watering down of its rules for a state of 800,000? What would they say to states who also would like to see some bending of the rules.

When push comes to shove the EU won't set any dodgy precedents.

It's the whole of the Treaty of Rome (as amended) or nothing.

A United Cyprus is only going to function if people forget their past, and their allegiances to either Athens or Ankara. Unless those conditions are met, there is no point in negotiating, and war is going to be the only other way to settle this...

Utu, it has nothing to do with directly Athens and Ankara. It has everything to do the with for over a century going on self-determination right of GCs VS self-determination right of TCs. We even offered a common consociational self-determination right of 2 communities but they still insist on self-determination right of GCs.

Did I mention something related Enosis? U r advocating "majority rule" which absolutely equals to GC rule. As long as u insist on "majority rule"
we have the right to insist on "political equality" and when it is understood that even the political equality is not acceptable by u; we have every right to ask Taksim.
