Thanks for the tables Tim, as I said... if you compare the number of passengers Turkish airlines carried against Olympic they're in the same boat!
Did you know that Olympic Airways is one of only 2 international airlines that has not had a major Jet Crash?
Olympic Aviation and Olympic Airways are not the same company.
And when I say International Airlines, I do not include Cyprus Airways which I regard as a Regional Airline only.
Why is it a regional airline?
Because it only flies on certain European and Middle Eastern routes.
It flies to 3 continents and its regional?
Oh, I forgot!
It flies to Cairo as well....
The pilots must be so fatigued after this long haul sector...
You mock?
How many regional airlines do you know who fly A330's and carry out 5-6 hr flights?
As far as I know a regional airline owns a bunch of 737's or A320(or A319's or A321's) and flies the region...
They are only Airbus and aging at that. And they only have 2 A330s as well.
BTW, there are Regional Airlines out there that operate B747 and A340s.
I think you can pretty much class them as a Regional Carrier.
They're only 6 years old! Who told you they're ageing?
What is the average age of the A320 fleet?
Anyway, this is besides the point. Cy Air only fly regional routes and this is why I regard them a Regional Carrier.
They're not regional routes if they're flying international. It just so happens that barring the US, all important destinations (in the world of business and finance) are close by. Just because you Ozzies need to fly 24hrs to get anywhere doesn't mean we all need A380's!
Cyprus Airways is just the same as one of Australia's many Domestic Airlines except for the fact that the Australian Domestic Airlines are much larger and more modern..
The distances involved on these short sectors are the same between Australian Domestic routes as they are for Cy Air International Routes...
You fly all that time and still you're in the middle of f**** nowhere in Australia. Wheras you get on the plane here and voila....you're in Paris.
We can also be in Paris in about 14 hours with our new flimsy A380s.
