Pascal was one of the greatest passions of my life for many years… there’s hardly anything I didn’t write with it, in fact around 40 software packages!
Most people were introduced to it at college or uni as a teaching language to programming because it was easier to follow, but the Borland implementation of Pascal made it extremely flexible and powerful with direct support for Assembly language, inline machine language, and much more. In fact the only thing you couldn’t write in Pascal was device drivers, operating systems, and such very low level software.
I made 3-4 inventions that contributed to computer science using Pascal in the early 90s but I can’t tell you what they are because that would reveal my identity!
