You went out to buy Bamyes? They should be cooked at home. You go out for Goubes.

For a Cypriot student in London in the 70's, finding bamyes was like finding treasure. :)

and what was wrong with Saturday morning cinema?

Watch the film, have a Sherbet Dab, go home on the bus and still get change from sixpence!

EE by gum they were the days

And you tell the young people today that, and they don' t believe you!

And the dirty old man in the back row flicking ice cream all over the kids in front of him - I was told it was ice cream :?

Only if it felt cold ....

Ha ha
I remember the one in Turnpike Lane became known as the flea pit. After it started showing late night "naughty" movies.
Last time I was there it became Quasar, where you run around shooting each other with mock laser guns, pre paintball days.

Zorba ... there used to be TWO Cinemas on opposite ends of Turnpike Lane Green.

The one near the Bus Station had Saturday Morning Flicks and the other was the one which later became a Bingo hall.

Which one are you talking about?

The one that faced the park,Ducketts common ?

Duckett's Common ... Brilliant!

I used to play Tennis there with my TC :? ... friend!
