In what way is Cyprus different than Rhodes, Crete or any other Greek island, other than the fact that our revolt for freedom and self-determination was oppressed violently by the combined attacks of the British and Turks?

The first modern Greek Republic was created in 1821. Are you going to tell me that Athens became Greek in 1821 and that it was not Greek before that? Most of the rest Greek territories and islands joined the Greek Republic after that. Rhodes united with Greece in 1947.

So I ask you again: What is the difference between Cyprus and any other Greek island except from the fact that foreign troops denied to Cyprus its freedom and self-termination?

Well mainly the fact that we live here too and we were equal partners.

If you claim that you have the right to dominate then so do we.

What is the problem?

Many other Greek islands have Turkish minorities, as well as parts of the Greek mainland. (and the same is true with many other former Ottoman colonies - Bulgaria has 12% Turks). So what you say is no difference between Cyprus and other Greek islands. You simply can't find any difference, because there isn't any.

Actually when it comes to the Turks/Ottomans, Cyprus was one of the last Greek territories to fall under the Ottoman rule. The Ottomans captured Athens about a century before they captured Cyprus.

What is the problem is discussed in the rest 20.000 topics of this forum. Here I am not talking about the problem, but about the fact that Cyprus is an island which belongs to the Greek Nation and which the British and Turkish troops did not allow to unite with the rest of Greece.

Thats because it doesnt belong to the Greek nation, never did and still doesnt! :)

So "just because" and you have no argument?

I am afraid you are also confusing the Greek Nation with the Greek Republic. As I told you the Greek Republic was formed in 1821, do you think that 1821 was the time that Athens became Greek?

I am sorry, I never realized that the "Greek Nation" was a legal entity.

So, anywhere that a "Greek Nation" exist they should have the rights to own the place?

No of course it doesn't work like that.

But this is what your WHOLE argument actually lies on doesn't it?

The fact that you actually lived here longer, and ONLY lived here, should mean that you have the universal right to do whatever you want with it and to the people on it.

Because the root of your argument is this, that you are natives, so everything is just based on an interpretation and nothing more.

That's pretty convincing Piratis, I shall pack my bags and leave tomorrow :)

What Turkish Nation? A bunch of nomadic tribesmen trying to get used to staying put and living in mud huts instead of tents?... just because Ataturk said they had to become one nation? And any getting itchy feet get sent over to Cyprus to carry on their nomadic expansionist invasions!

1500s was not nomadic tribes man time, it was Empire time.

Even IF we were tribes man we would still have a lot more than you had going on here.

Yeah thats it, thats the difference.

Oracle I knew you were racist but never thought you were an idiot.

Turkish architecture

In their homeland in Central Asia, Turks lived in dome-like tents appropriate to their natural surroundings, and they were nomads. These tents later influenced Turkish architecture and ornamental arts.

Though u have already known that; I know that u need a lil self-satisfaction of belittleing Turks before u sleep. It's something ur daily goofball.

The homeland of Turks is central Asia. The time we had a civilization in Cyprus for 1000s of years these Mongoloids were still living in tents. Then they decided to start killing people and invaded our homeland that is when the problem started. I say send them back to their homeland so we can take back our homeland and all problems solved.

Why should hundreds of people search for something Bananiot should've provided?
