7.8 Million British Pounds Paid

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

7.8 Million British Pounds Paid

Postby halil » Fri Feb 27, 2009 7:43 pm

The number of GC's who have abondoned hope for a settlement and who have applied to immovable property commusion in Northern Cyprus for compensation has risen to 381.

55 of them have received compensation and 3 have had their properties returened and the commission has ruled to exchange the property of 2 applicants.19 Greek Cypriots have withdrawn their applications. It is said that the remaining 301 GC's are demanding astronomical amounts in compensation, amount to 608,000,000 British Pounds.

This demand has once again revived the question as to who will pay out such a vast amount of money .

The fact that 301 of the 165000 or so GC refugees who left their properties in 1974 have alone requested such large sums of money in compensation has reinforced the common belief that the property issue will in no way be a simple matter to solve.

so far the compensation payments have been made by the TRNC ministry of Finance total of 7,804,000 British pound. this amount paid to 55 people .
they were asked for 56,826,000 pounds from the begining of agreements.

Just one more reason why this silly "property commission" does not work. It was a facade from the beginning and it's has long outlived it's uselessness. People are asking the price on what the properties are worth. If you are not willing to pay what they are asking, there is a simple solution................just give back their properties.!

according to some scenarios:

1.first one will cost 4 billion Euros during the first 5 years ,was that all Turkish Cypriot immigrants who had to move from south to north return back to their properties and Greek cypriots stay where they are.

2. relaying on all the GC's to return back and TC's to stay here was calculated at costing 3.4 billion Euros.

3.This one based on the Annan plan were approximated to cost between 4,5 and 5.7 billion Eoros.

So the cheapest option is if stolen properties are given back to us.

As for the property commission, well if 56mGBp was asked by the owners of the property and 7mGBP was paid you can understand how serious this pseudo commission is.
