The verb is "honnw" meaning "to hide". Its probably an ancient Greek word of which we use many in Cyprus. Kids we used to play "hosto", the legendary hide-and-seek. "Hostes" (the accent on the e) means "the hidden ones". They are below the top soil, arn't they?

not realy .they can be found on the hills . to take them out u need strong knife or some iron or hard stick .

usually cooked with dried beans or cooked with lamb meat . also it can be boiled and eat it with lemon ,olive oil and salt .

it must be from families of wild artichokes .
