Property Rights Not Negotiable says Pres X

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby insan » Thu Feb 26, 2009 4:23 pm

Only in case of vast majority of GC refugees want to keep their properties as a second home, sell to other GCs as holiday house and in some other similar cases; proprty issue might cause problems. Therefore, establishment of a bi-communal property board that would deal with this issue to determine the demands of all refugees would present for leaders a clearer picture to negotiate tangibly...

When 2 incompetent tribes go to war u can't even score a single, valuable, political point. All and all a vicious circle, keeps spinning for 35 years.

Deputy-Prime Minister – Foreign Minister Turgay Avci has criticized the Greek Cypriot Leader Dimitris Christofias for his recent statement on the Property Issue – which is being discussed by the two leaders in Cyprus as part of the full-fledged negotiations.

Calling Christofias’ remarks an `unfortunate statement, Mr Avci said that the Greek Cypriot Leader has maintained his uncompromising attitude by referring `the right to return` as a sine qua non.

The Minister complained that the aim of the Greek Cypriot Side was not to negotiate a settlement to the Cyprus problem on the basis of UN parameters and political equality but to impose a pro-Greek Cypriot solution to the problem through fait accomplis out of the negotiation table.

He stated that the Turkish Cypriot Side respected the property rights by establishing the Immovable Property Commission – which is respected by the European Court of Human Rights.

He noted that the Commission has been hearing property claims by Greek Cypriots for their properties in the North and bringing solutions through compensation, exchange and restitution.

Complaining that the Greek Cypriot Administration has been trying to prevent their citizens from applying to the Commission, Mr Avci reminded that some Turkish Cypriot properties in the South were expropriated without compensation and the restitution of the rest was delayed after a solution.

`It is clear that the side which is disrespectful to the property rights is the Greek Cypriot Administration`, he said, but stressed that the Turkish Cypriot Side would maintain its determination towards bringing an urgent solution to the Cyprus problem in spite of the Greek Cypriot Side’s intransigent policies.

This land grabbing, assistant muhktar Avsik is an absolute plonker of the biggest order.

Look plonker Avsik. Here is Aticle 17 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Think of it as international and binding law on the subject of property.....

Article 17.

(1) Everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others.
(2) No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property.

It's not negotiable by Pres X, by Tolot or anyone else. Period.

If it was such a clear cut situation why has it been included as one of the chapters? and what have they been discussing all this time regarding property?
There has to be a trade off that will be acceptable to both sides.
Mr X will have to give a little on this one.

I was under the impression only TC drew the red lines on mountains and GCs drew Blue lines. Am I confused again?
Mr X must be very confused.
