Akin: 'I would shoot again'

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Akin: 'I would shoot again'
By ANDY IOANNOU 23.FEB.09

Turkish settler Kenan Akin, who is accused of murdering Greek Cypriot Solomos Solomou during the 1996 mass anti-occupation protests in Dherynia, has said he would not hesitate to shoot again.

Speaking to a Greek national newspaper, Akin said he will not travel abroad as he refuses to “do anyone a favour and get arrested”.

The Turkish settler has Interpol and Cyprus police warrants against him.

Akin also claimed that the Republic of Cyprus, which has a price of almost €1million on his arrest, does not have any credible evidence of his guilt and that he is being unjustly accused.

Akin is a candidate in the upcoming “parliamentary elections” in occupied northern Cyprus.

He is accused of murdering Solomos Solomou, who was shot by Turkish snipers in 1996 after climbing a flag pole close to a military post in Dherynia.
The incident was filmed by journalists and was seen on live television.

This loser, Kenan Akin does not need to be proven that he murdered Solomos Solomou. Just the fact he had a gun pointing and shooting at Solomos Solomou, whether the bullet from his gun killed him or not is irrelevant. He can serve just as much time in prison for intentional attempted murder.!

But only in the pseudo state (and maybe Turkey) could a criminal who is wanted by Interpol be a candidate in elections.

This time it looks like he shot himself in the foot.

If I had forcefully crossed to your side in those days you would probably shoot me too, there is no doubt.

Plus I thought that guy got shot by an officer in the balcony behind the pole, with a pistol.

Not by "Turkish snipers".

Murderer of Solomos Solomou: 'I'd do it again'

In an interview published Sunday in the Greek newspaper Proto Thema, Kenan Akin, the Turk wanted for the murder of Solomos Solomou( http://hellenicantidote.blogspot.com/2009/02/murders-of-tassos-isaac-and-solomos.html)during the Dherynia protests in August 1996, expresses no remorse over the killing and says he would do it again.

Akin, who is standing in forthcoming 'parliamentary elections' in occupied Cyprus as a candidate with the Freedom and Reform party, which is part of the coalition 'government' in occupied Cyprus, revealed in the interview that he is regarded as a hero among Turkish Cypriots and said he doesn't understand why so much fuss has been made over the death of 'a dog', as he refers to Solomou.

Above is the report that appeared on RIK news on Sunday (my English subtitles) with comments from President Dimitris Christofias, leader of the House of Representatives Marios Karoyian, and Solomou's father, who draws attention to the fact that the actions of Akin, a settler, with connections to the Turkish secret services and who at the time of the murder was 'minister of agriculture' in the occupation regime, were not those of a lone 'barbarian' – as Christofias rightly calls Akin – but the product of the occupation of northern Cyprus, which is rooted in barbarism and that, every day of its existence, cultivates and justifies barbarism.
