I have an old car which I have to get rid off. I heard that when you give your car to the government you will get money from the government. Does anybody knows how this works and what to do for this?

Go to your local public office and fill in the forms
I think it is worth about 700 Euro unless you trade in the car for a new one, you maybe looking at 1000 Euro
