M..... , this is just to tell you , as I did before , that I do not in any way or form hold a grudge against you , I find you consistent jibes at my person insulting and rather annoying more so since you are suggesting that unless I share your views I'm an ignorant sod and rather stupid.
At almost 63 , believe me I have gone round the block as they say a few times , have met many and made few enemies . I consider my self primarily as a kirios and value my self respect and integrity a great deal .
My love for Cyprus is a bright now as it was way back in the 50s when as a young man I joined the Youth movement of EOKA , ANE and did whatever was asked of me for a cause that I believed then and I believe now that it was a cause worth fighting for. My older brother was a full EOKA member who undertook many operations.
Both I and my brother genuinely love our country of birth and have always tried from afar to do the right thing for our nation. Both of us consider the T/Cs to be our compatriots and genuinely have not one iota of hatred against them , perhaps the reason is our interaction with them over the years in the UK due to our business being the Catering trade.
We have come to know them well , made many many friends and you know what , they want for Cyprus exactly what we want . Peace , stability and the well being of their loved ones.
Why I/m telling you all this ? hoping that you may think for a while and bravely offer your hand in friendship rather than insults and bitterness. ""

Sorry doesentmatter I have to dissagree. Eoka was a legitemate organisation fighting mainly British, the TCs were also fighting the British at the time although it was not common knowledge. Eoka-b were the traitors. GR is not clown, he is Eoka-c. C meaning crap.
A lot of people were swept away with the emotion of the times.
What matters is what we think now, not what we thought in the 50s.

I have on many occasions written about the tiny part that I as a 12-15 year old played in the struggle against the British occupation of Cyprus.
More than 50 years ago now and I do not regret for one moment my tiny involvement. Wanting ENOSIS was the aspiration of the overwhelming majority of G/Cs , with hindsight the ultimate goal should have been independence from Brittain , a struggle that would have involved other Cypriots apart from the G/Cs. One has to bear in mind that Cyprus never experienced freedom having had oppressors throughout its long history . The guiding light was the one emanating and shining brightly from Greece. Most Cyprus at that time had NEVER met anyone from Greece , even the Greek accent was listened to in awe .
The struggle was a noble one and above all a responsible one.
As for what followed after independence with the arrival of EOKA B
all I can say their leading light was emanating from hell because their main concern then became not the liberation from Brittain but other sinister reasons.
Nobody can seriously question the struggle of a nation for independence , after all Britain had said quite loudly and clearly that she would NEVER give Cyprus its independence. These T/Cs on the forum that cry out against EOKAs struggle against the Brits ought to ask themselves just one simple question. What would the have done if they were the 80% of the Cypriots under British rule , would they consider obtaining permission from the 18% G/Cs before commencing the struggle. Honest answers please.

The struggle was correct , the desired result should have been independence .
Hatred amongst Greeks and Turks has always been there , but not amongst G/Cs and T/Cs .We see on this forum exhibits of blind hatred , we must challenge such exhibitions vigorously and continually.
