Anyone been a good boy or girl and collected some of that rain in tanks for summer watering of plants?

I bet not!

I haven't gone that far, but I have an array of plastic containers on my balcony to collect water when it rains. I washed in rainwater this morning, for example.
Seriously, I would like to know what happens to the vast quantity of water that flows into the drains in a large urban area like Limassol when we do get a downpour. If it is not being harvested then the necessary infrastructure should be put in place so that it is collected for further use, such as watering municipal parks.

:) Indeed we have! Webbo even bought some piping and redirected the water from two downpipes into our tubs so we can save all our rain water - well almost all! Trouble is we only have two exterior downpipes! To compensate we have several other tubs in the garden! I have to say that our garden is looking relatively healthy - though obviously not the plants that died over the last eleven months! :(
We still need lots more rain and snow to see us through the summer though!

 Do you heat your rain water first Tim?

When out walking our dog, we sometimes walk alongside some of the many dry river beds around Limassol. During this weather they run like rapids - straight into the Med; what a waste. :(
Anyone any ideas how to harvest this water as you suggest?
