How eirini Haralampidou went from drawing the lottery on Efharisto Savvatovrado to political debates is beyond me. And I don't mean that from an intellectual point of view...our political debates are anything BUT that.

Usually consist of the AKEL representative telling us how evil the west is, DEKO telling us how evil the Annan plan was, DISY telling us how evil Papadopoulos was and EDEK telling us how evil DISY is.

Is this the kind of democracy that we wish to join?
God help your people, cause no one esle will.

???

Politicians bickering are a worldwide standard phenomenon, but your childish conclusions are not.

Your moronic PM couldn't even handle a debate in Davos in front of the whole world.

I wouldn't talk.

Whos is the politician in the line up for Monday's debate, DT? Of course, again, you found a way to introduce a chaotic outlook even to this thread. Why do you never say anything of essence?

I'd like to ask a few questions to all of u... What's the main reason lying under the Cyprus problem?

1- Colonization vs De-colonization?
2- Consociational self-determination right of 2 main communities of Cyprus VS self - determination right of Greeks of Cyprus.
3- Eonosis VS Taksim

In my opinion the roots of conflict lays under Consociational self-determination right of 2 main communities of Cyprus VS self - determination right of Greeks of Cyprus. When this struggle initiated by itself in correlation with the rise of nationalism within both communities; respectively and tied with their own national interests; the times was late 1800s. None of the leaders that we blame for the current situation, the past armed struggle and it consequences were born yet.

I don't believe under the then circumstances, if there weren't Makarios, Grivas, Kutchuk, Denktash, Yanni, Nigoli, Amed, Memed; things would have changed in a better way. The national, communal and universal circumstances they were being in gave birth to them, shaped their opinions, cause and method of struggle... Anyone sharing the same or similar point of view with me?

A man of your fixations should hardly talk Bananiot.

Unless you consider EIrini Haralampidou an excellent political journalist, our MP's outstanding statesmen and Makarios Droushiotis a pullitzer prize winner instead of the opportunistic hack he really is.

Again, you evade the issue. A serious person would wait and see the debate and then speak, if what he hears are worth commenting upon. You always choose to comment on the persons that participate in anything rather than on what they say.

Makarios Drousiotis is appearing for the first time, after years of exclusion because of his beliefs, not because he had nothing to say, but already you claim he is an opportunistic hack. Perhaps you have read some of his books. Please give us an example of his opportunistic behaviour, just to highlight your statement.

Where did you dream up this exile from TV Bananiot? And is this exile only from CyBC or from the others as well? Did he ask to be invited and was refused? Is it possible he just isn't considered credible?

I'll try and be serious and watch the debate even though Eirini's show and "ahaparosini" makes my hair stand on end.

BTW I wasn't aware that you were this open minded. Do you also wait to hear what Koutsou has to say before passing judgement on a debate? Or do you have the Papapetrou Pom Pom's out by that time?

Here you go again. There is only one way to deal with this. You claim that Drousiotis is an opportunist. Prove it here and now or withdraw your accusation. Open minded means to be able to see the other side of the coin and this means not just looking at it. Watching arch fascist Koutsou is not a sign of being open minded. Anyone can watch him and listen to what he sells. I have seen him on numerous occasions but this is not what open mindness is. Being open minded is a much more serious issue than you think, it seems. Open mindness is about being receptive to new ideas, but surely you do not mean that we should seriously consider those that are on the extreme right of the spectrum. You chose a bad example to make a point.

So people on the far right are not to be listened to in your democracy but people on the sides of the political sepctrum that you agree with deserve our open mindedness? No wonder you had no problems accepting the annan plan with your eschewed view of democracy.

Does anyone in Deko deserve open mindedness? Does anyone in EDEK deserve open mindedeness? Have you ever accomodated any of them with it? Have you not been prejudiced at someone not because of who they are but also because of what party they belong to?

Save your preaching of open mindedness Bananiot. WHen you have no qualms to label anyone providing the least amount of resistance to a minority dictatoship solution to Cyprus as a fascist.

Save it.

But Bananiot, according to you 76% of the population are either extreme right fascists or fools.

So you label almost everybody as extremist or fool, and then you call yourself "open minded" because you listen only to a small minority of people that you happen to agree with.

I think it is time for you to understand that the one extremist here is you.

Extremism is a term used to describe the actions or ideologies of individuals or groups outside the perceived political center of a society; or otherwise claimed to violate common moral standards. The term is invariably, or almost invariably, used pejoratively

I can find opportunism and lies in many of his articles. I chose the one above as a small example. WHen he speaks of the poor TC's students in the first paragraph which should not have to stand and sing the Greek national anthem or sit in a classroom with Hellenic images on the walls.

As an alumni of the English School I can tell you now that even before the TC's were re-admitted into the school there was no singing of the national anthem and there were no hellenic pictures hanging on the walls of the classes. What the hell is he doing other than the exact same thing the Archbishop is doing with the story of the crosses. Trying to create a wrong impression of the conditions the tc's live with in the English school so as to hammer the position of the minister of education firmly into people's minds. That somehow this situation with national anthems and hellenic icons is unacceptable. Lies Lies Lies!!!

An opportunistic hack!
