How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The Turks have shown hate towards the Greek Cypriots since the 14th century :

Greek Cypriots justifiably HATE Turks… GET OVER IT!

14th century , now lets see that would be 1371 !!!!!

Certain members of the forum confuse the word Hatred with the word Respect.
Not the same thing I am afraid.

Where did you get that from? :?

Hate is one of the many natural emotions that come about when someone has shown animosity or dislike towards you, so you return the favor in kind!

The Turks have shown hate towards the Greek Cypriots since the 14th century with countless acts of barbaric aggression against them, so to suggest that Greek Cypriots are wrong to hate Turkey is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard!

Greek Cypriots justifiably HATE Turks… GET OVER IT!

A greater attribute is to forgive; like many Turkish Cypriots have forgiven the tresspasses against them by the GC's. I have seen it all and can forgive, like many others. We do not necessarily forget ofcourse. We ought to learn from past errors and look to the fture and decode where we go from here.

Stop perpetuating 'hatred' GR. You are too intelligent for that.

A keyword in what GR said is the word "since". We are not talking about some event that happened once in the 16th century. We are talking about crimes against that happen ever since.

Cypriots are very forgiving, and they have shown this with actions. We have a Latin minority in Cyprus today, do you see any hate of Greek Cypriots against this Latin minority because of what happened centuries ago?

And in the case of the Turks, we have been oppressed by them from 1571 until 1878. And still, just some years after their rule ended, we had already forgiven them and we were living in Cyprus together in peace - until 1958 when they decided to attack again.

And today, although we are the ones who suffered the most by far, we are still the one who say "Lets leave the past behind, lets forgive each other, and lets live in peace, democracy and human rights for all".

Unfortunately the Turks remember 1% of the past and are trying to find excuses as to why the above can not happen.

Piratis, we have been over this for so many times. Your hatred for the Turk is akin for the hatred of the French towards the British. Pehaps the Ottomans should have left the Greeks of Cyprus to suffer at the hands of the Venetians. Since 1571, the people of Cyprus have been oppressed by the Ottomans, whether muslim or orthodox. We rebelled against the Porte together for christs sake. You are so blinded you have decided to ignore anything that we have to say. Will you always blame the sins of our fathers on to us Piratis. The past is dead, look to the future for once. Bringing tepast up non-stop only achieves one thing. That one thing is certainly NOT re-unification. As I said previously, you and a few others are number one 'Partitionists'. For this alone you should be tried for treason. Tried, Hung and quartered. IMHO.

Have a good day and run along to church and purge yourself of sinful thoughts.

I was considering saying the same thing to him and GR but could not bring myself to say it.
Nevertheless well said.
I would have added a fair trial and then hung, I think would have better effect.

Deniz's response was stupid not "well said"! You do NOT justify ones crimes against a people by assuming and suggesting that the previous criminal was worse!

Grow up the both of you!

Those who don’t like being hated should STOP being hateful by abiding by international law and respecting the human rights of others. End of story!

There's a huge turkish flag we wake up to every day and go to sleep under its blinking lights every night. We all see it, the wife, the kids, me. My kid is 4 soon, and soon the questions will start, when that starts there's another generation we'll lose.

In huge football pitch sized letters you tell us on Pendadaktylos what a joy it is to be a turk. As if emphasising what a disaster it is to be his neighbour.

Do you not realise that people are living the misery the turkish army caused in 1974 TODAY? I would understand this mockery had it been solved in an amicable partitioned way...but there's an open wound and you've managed to make your flag a loathed symbol for thousands of people that see it every day.

I was one of the few people that did not get angry at Sotos's depiction of the turkish flag as a piece of shit a while back. I believe your flag will get the respect from others that you yourself give to it. If you use your flag to mock, remind or taunt others for their loss then that flag should be taken for what you yourselves use it as. A symbol very similar to the one finger salute.

I realise I've only taken a shallow view of hatred on this post by only concentrating on an ottoman pr exercise but I believe it is an important example/
