GIRNE AND WEILBURG MUNICIPALITIES COOPERATE

Postby halil » Fri Feb 20, 2009 1:11 pm

Girne Municipality and Germany’s Weilburg Municipality have agreed on the establishment of cooperation on local administrations.

German Mayor Hans Peter Schick paid a visit to Prime Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer today to ask for support to the cooperation agreement.
During the visit, German Mayor said the decision to cooperate with the Girne Municipality was taken within the framework of Municipalities’ Reform package.

Mr Schick added that further plans to establish cooperation on economic, ecologic and educational issues were also underway.

In response, Prime Minister Soyer expressed his full support to such cooperation and noted that the German Mayor’s insistence on maintaining good relations with the Turkish Cypriots, despite of all obstacles, was very encouraging.
