The End of the Cyprus Problem

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Piratis » Fri Feb 20, 2009 6:40 pm

Now it's back to finger-pointing and accusations. Shot of military force, it's just going to be the status quo for years and years to come. I hope you're all satisfied.

I am not satisfied but it is 1000% obvious that we will not come to any agreement with the Turks since they will accept nothing less than us recognizing their rule over the north part of our country and gaining undemocratic and unfair privileges on our expense.

So yes, unfortunately it will be the status quo for years, until the balance of power will change and Turkey will not be able to enforce its illegal occupation any more. Nothing more obvious than that.

VP, you must be assuming that Turkey holding a hard-line stance on violations against peoples human-rights will last forever as well I see.

As long as you pose a threat than why not?

growup nothing will change as long as both sides lack vision capacity and desire to compromise, the chasm is to wide to bridge this is as good as it gets we just have to accept and live with it.

Don't. The less you count on it the less prepared you will be.

And I am not assuming anything. All I am saying is that under the current balance power it is impossible to find a true solution with negotiations.

Whatever ghosts are threatning you in your mind, have nothing to do with todays reality.

I agree with you for once, many more years have to pass before GCs may realize they have lost any chance of uniting and the current divide will still be around long after you or I are long long gone.
