REMAINS OF TURKISH CYPRIOT HUSEYIN MEHMET BUBA WERE BURIED WITH A MILITARY CEREMONY
The remains of Huseyin Mehmet Buba have been buried at the Martyrdom in Lefkosa Cemetery with a military ceremony.
In an address at the ceremony, the President of the Martyrs’ Families and Disabled War Veterans Ertan Ersan said that Buba was abducted and killed by Greek Cypriots on his way from the Dali village to Lefkosa on the 23rd of December 1963.
Mr Ersan said that the burial of Buba’s remains would make it possible for his loved ones to pray by the side of his grave.
He also thanked Gulden Plumer Kucuk, the Turkish Cypriot member of the Committee on Missing Persons for the committee’s efforts towards finding the remains of Buba.
Bugce Buba, the daughter of Huseyin Buba’s sister, also delivered a speech in which she said her uncle was killed together with four of his friends and dumped into a well.
At the end of the speeches, a minute’s silence was observed and shots fired in memory of Huseyin Buba.
Then, his remains were buried at the Martyrdom and the flags covering the coffin were handed to the family of Buba.
