Huge disgrace for Turkey in the TRNC!
A group which alleges that Turkey interfered in police recruitment in the TRNC staged a demonstration in front of the Turkish embassy in Nicosia. At the demonstration, Turkey was actually declared to be an occupier.
Allegations of favouritism in the appointment of 100 people to the police force one week ago in the TRNC have led to accusations that Turkey is an occupier.
The argument over the new appointments to the police force erupted when certain candidates who claimed to have passed the exam were excluded from the list of 100 successful candidates. A group of 20 people who allege that favouritism was practiced in the exam and claim that they passed the exam congregated in front of the Turkish embassy in Nicosia yesterday and alleged that the embassy had “intervened” in police recruitment. The group, in protesting against police recruitment, attacked Turkey in very strong terms.
MODEL OF A BLOODY HAND IN THE TRNC
Supporters of the Cyprus Socialist Party (KSP), United Cyprus Party (BKP) and New Cyprus Party (YKP) turned up at the Turkish embassy with banners reading “Struggle against Imperialism, Fascism and Occupations”. The group, alleging that the embassy had intervened in police recruitment, left a ceramic model of a “bloody hand” at the embassy gates.
TURKEY ACCUSED OF BEING AN OCCUPIER
Abdullah Korkmazhan of the BKP, speaking on behalf of the group, claimed that in the police recruitment process persons nominated by the Turkish embassy were appointed. Korkmazhan said, “For as long as North Cyprus remains under Turkish occupation, Turkey is responsible for events of all kinds in North Cyprus. In particular for the security of the people of North Cyprus. For as long as the occupation continues, Turkey is responsible even if one of our citizens in North Cyprus has a nose bleed.”
In response to the argument that has erupted, the TRNC Supreme Administrative Court has suspended procedures in connection with 38 people on the 100-person list. Prime-Minister Ferdi Sabit Soyer, having consulted with police chief Günay Özan, has also announced that wage payments to the 100 people have been frozen.
Thanks Tim, once again for your work.!
I wonder if "Viewpoint" was amongst the protestors to claim "safeguards" for the TC's in the workplace from discrimination by those who are anti TC.!
Somehow, I doubt it.!
It is not unusual, that at times, knowing someone in places can benefit one to get a job, hence the phrase, "is not what you know, is who you know".! In "corrupted societies", such as the case is in the "trnc", it is no longer enough who you know, but also, who you "blow", as well as, how much cash you can stuff in their pockets.! It is these corrupted people who enjoy the bounty from such corruption, who depend on the NeoPartitionist to keep the corrupt system in place for them by not wanting to be part of a democratic Cyprus.!
