Are TCs more Turks or Cypriots

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Main_Source,
Have you reached some consensus or found some common ground with Brother, or not yet? Are you both still working on it? At what phase of the issues are you currently working on? Will we have some results any time soon or we have entered into a stalemate? 8)

The whole of Maras/Varosha plus halt on development for the joint use of Famagusta port (which is in operation) sound fair to anyone???

does the above offer instill any goodwill or trust in TCs???

Yeap, sounds fair to me...

You get Direct trade and we get an area that you dont inhabit anyway. As for the hold on developments, well as u said u only develop because its the only way to have an income. So that will be solved with direct trade and u would not need to develop GC properties.

Yiannis are you aware the port is open and fuctional??? why should we share and be under the control of GCs??? Its not exactly direct trade, we want to work our own airports and ports, like you work yours with no TC inference.

Why do you care that much now about working them on ur own??? Ok negotiate it.Ask for the EU to be the one having the control or smthing like that. Its just a step forward.
Who is gonna assure the GCs that Talat is not trying to go for a partition if he is given the full control of all airports and ports???

with fresh talks possibly looming i think tc and gc alike will now not give an inch, as doing so will only weaken their bargaining positions.

have you heard or read anything that we have not??? no talks for fore seeable future....no one will help us if we cant help ourselves.

so if we shouldnt care about who runs them or owns them, then who will take responsibility, we dont want to be under GC control the EU will not take on such a role, what if we asked to share all your ports and airports jointly???

vp

no i know as much as you.

but i wouldnt rule it out completely. much may still depend on Turkey's eu application, or even direct flights -

a london travel agent told me that direct filights from Britain may possibly happen under Britain's Eu presidency, which i think starts next week.

I think there will be one more round of talks at some point, and if the tc vote is yes it will be the last.

Maybe charters gabaston, but for scheduled airlines it would require a policy change by international aviation bodies (can't remember the organisation in question off the top of my head) in terms of recognising airports.

So I think direct flights to Ercan aren't on the cards just yet.
