Are TCs more Turks or Cypriots

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I've heard a number of GC friends of mine talk about division as a way forward, and how they don't know if they could actually live together in peace with TCs. It might not be the scenario that most of us wish for, but if that's what VP believes, he has a right to do so.

Incidentally Kifeas, congrats on your 1000th post.

Thanks for the congrats, Moose! :)

Viewpoint prefers this solution because he /she is hoping to grasp the 35% of the territory that Turkey occupies now and run away. Greediness!

However, this is just a summer night dream. Because the GCs will never recognise such a situation and such a state, even if the rest of the world does so. What we will probably do is for every single state that recognise the "TRNC" to buy an additional 50 tanks. By the time all the 200 countries of the world recognise it, we will have 10,000 tanks in our arsenal. This is probably the only promise that the GCs can give to greedy Viewpoint and his /her likes!

Of course it goes without saying that the 40,000 Turkish troops in the north will not be enough and probably Turkey will have to raise them up to 400,000.

Kifeas,

You are distoring what is being said. I can not speak in behalf of Viewpoint but I dont think that he is planning to keep %35 of the island! Are you, Viewpoint?

In such an extreme partition solution, the land TC keeps can be around
%22-24 where large compensations should be paid to GC for the extra %5.

But this is not realistic as no one will accept it.

Why should you compensate us to give you more land than your share? We can compensate you for all your 18% share and you can go to Turkey!

The only explanation could possibly be that 18% land is not big enough to sustain a country. I don't know if this is true or not but I'm curious to see what the TCCS would look like if it was only 18%.

Listen Kifeas, I didnt say this is my solution plan.

As you say, it is diffucult to find 18% for TC to survive in Cyprus, so if it is accepted that partition is only way forward (which is not going to happen), my suggestion is much fairer than sending all of us to Turkey.

But its you (the TCs) who are asking for a separate state! Not the GCs! Why should we care if the 18% is big enough for a separate state or not?

No detailer, Viewpoint and some other TCs are dreaming, wishing, anticipating and hoping that this is what will eventually happen. Ask them and you will find it out!

Kifeas
Yes Viewpoint, you said it many times! I know what you want! However, I have yet to see your map with the 18% of territory that you want to keep.

Its not a matter of what I want its a matter of what we can realistically achieve given ourr current circumstancies experiencies and mindset towards each other. You to must now realize that we cannot achieve utopia becuase we have to many impassable issues, that only partition would resolve once and for all.
Why do I sense a not of sadness coupled with anger at my viewpoint?
As for the area of the island that would be the recognised TRNC the percentage will be determined by international experts if we entitled to 18% then no problem. As for this map you keep going on about I an no expert and maping out 18% or whatever percentage we are entitiled to but Kyrenis would remain in the TRNC, if thats what your are fishing for but the majority of the karpaz region and guzelyurt area would be handed back.

Ah! And because we plan to build a 6 meter wall to keep the mainland settlers from infiltrating into the south, make sure the borderline is not very long

dont you feel this a racist comment as you refer to settlers, are they that bad, you refer to them as thou they are scum, never expected this from you.

Viewpoint prefers this solution because he /she is hoping to grasp the 35% of the territory that Turkey occupies now and run away. Greediness!

Firstly let me remind you I am make just to save you having to write he/she all the time.
You are totally wrong here as you can see from my comments above, I do not expect to keep 35%, not my wish or aim.

However, this is just a summer night dream. Because the GCs will never recognise such a situation and such a state, even if the rest of the world does so. arent you dreaming here?

dont forget there is over 1 million backing them up just 40 miles away.

totally correct...

Kifeas
Why should you compensate us to give you more land than your share? We can compensate you for all your 18% share and you can go to Turkey!

grasping at straws here a bit arent you, why dont we compensate you and you can go to Greece. This is very childish idea, both communites are here to stay forever.

look at Malta or San Marino...

you are totally right it would be our problem not yours...

arent things gradually panning out that way, we are heading for cementing partition, neither side has the will to the desire to sit down and negotiate a solution so as time passes the status quo will remain and the will and desire for unification will diminish with TCs and GCs realizing that partition may not be the desired solution but the only realistic one.
